Don't listen to the Hype. It's awful
Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.
The acting in this movie is really good.
Actress is magnificent and exudes a hypnotic screen presence in this affecting drama.
A movie with a lot of good ass kicking, of course! It's Sly, what else is he going to do? Comedy...? This movie has high-octane action, great eye candy, don't-blink-and-you'll-probably-still-miss-it naked eye candy, iconic stars AND you'll laugh or Mr. Stallone will trick you into marrying Theresa, his OTHER daughter. This is easily watchable every 3 years or so.
I liked what they were going for with "Bullet to the Head", but not how they went about it. Stallone and retro seem to go hand-in-hand, and the name Walter Hill has its own cachet to contribute to such an enterprise. But it doesn't have much in the way of characterization, plotting or setting. It could happen anywhere, but just so happens to be set in New Orleans, while the revenge angle is robbed of emotion; very businesslike. All I really knew to expect from this was the axe fight between Stallone and Momoa, the centerpiece of the trailers. But by the time it finally happened in the movie, I'd already checked out. There's nothing really bad about this, but it never rises above passable. In that respect, it reminded me of the "Get Carter" remake. 5/10
First off if you like movies like this..I am sorry don't read this!I love 80s and 90s action movies but his one is BAD.I have respect for Walter Hill, he has had a good movie track record, But this movie... well...leaves the taste of Garbage in you mouth! The 80s-90s "blow'em up shoot'em up" films were successful in the 80- 90s...not so great now in 201. Hill has been out of the movie loop for a while and might need to recheck his direction in film making. Stallone seems like he is hard as wood and un-phased by the events unfolding in the film and the acting from the other characters is poor.... and Christan Slater? what were you thinking? Stallone plays a bad ass hit-man that has seen it all(surprise, surprise) who teams up with a cop to kill some other bad guys and then there's a shoot out and bullets and unnecessary killing and explosions in every square inch of this film... Boring!for Ex: Stallone is running across an old factory platform while being shot at by 3 dudes and blows them up by locking his explosive filled car...Think that's bad.. there is an AXE fight at the end..yep i said Axe Fight! So after you put a bullet in you TV and get the egg off you face give it a generous 3 out of 10 stars!
The story is really quite enjoyable. The presented plot really can encompass what will happen if the characters combine the police resources with the hit man approach. It sure does not feel like the average action movie, being that it feels slightly below par. The action sequences are being anticipated easily considering that the movie builds up moderately and evenly before each sequences. That takes away the thrill of surprise from the action sequences. That said, it's also very noticeable that the flow is also very monotonous, using a supposedly roller coaster like flow of highs and lows. But the end result proves not to well. The acting overall is also not so good. Stallone's acting is quite a standard job, having the action only rely on close up shots and fast durations of medium or longer distanced shots. Sung Kang's acting is worse than in Fast & Furious roles whereas this is quite a considerable leap in the character's significance, going from a supporting character to a sidekick.
