A lot of perfectly good film show their cards early, establish a unique premise and let the audience explore a topic at a leisurely pace, without much in terms of surprise. this film is not one of those films.

Hop tells a story of an Easter Buddy, whereby EB(Brand) is helping out with his Pops(Laurie) at the Easter factory. EB then grows up and insists on his interest in Drumming. Pops wants him to take over the family business. On the Human world, Fred(Marsden) is having an "intervention", whereby he is being kicked out of the family, so his sister Sam(Cuoco-Sweeting) helps him out with offering Sam's boss house that she is suppose to housesit. haahah. The Human world meets Bunny world when EB is knocked down by Fred. EB has been looking for a place in the human world, when he leaves Bunny land, after a having an argument with Pops. While Fred is throwing out EB, EB reminds him that he's the easter bunny claiming to fred that "He is special, not Oh, everyone's special, special", So Fred recalls a memory when he was a kid. EB's Berate Pink Bereats (Emergency Bunnys) are on the search for EB. So chaos ensues. heheeh Fred is framed by EB to escape the Pink Berates. Carlos(Azaria) leads a takeover from Pops. All is well now. EB, Pops and Fred all played the part in taking back Easter. haahah. So Fred has been inducted or "initiated". So now he and EB are "Co-Bunnys".I just noticed with the credits that Huge Hefner played the voice of the Playboy Mansion. Like really in a kids movie??? So my thoughts on the movie, very nice, simple plot. Enjoyable. Can't really fault this movie, except for the Playboy Mansion scene. I felt there was no need for that in a kids movie.

Fred O'Hare (James Marsden) would become the first Easter Bunny. On Rapa Nui Easter Island, E.B. is the heir to the position of Easter Bunny. Carlos is the jealous second-in-command chick. As a teenager, he dreams to be a rock drummer. He runs away to Hollywood on the eve of becoming the Easter Bunny. Henry (Gary Cole) and Bonnie O'Hare (Elizabeth Perkins) have decided to kick out their unemployed picky son Fred. Even their daughters Sam (Kaley Cuoco) and Alex are in on it. Sam gets him an interview with a videogaming company and housesit her boss' big mansion. Very reluctantly, Fred lets E.B. stay with him as the Easter Bunny sends out the Pink Berets to go after E.B.I really don't like Marsden's character. He's almost 40 and looks like it. Yet he's playing a character more like a slacker twentysomething. Unless the character is actually suppose to be this bad, I would suggest somebody much more younger as a happy slacker. E.B. is only slightly better. The other problem is that the characters don't seem to be ready to be together. It's ridiculous that Fred can't get rid of E.B. He's a bloody rabbit. Their relationship ring false. The movie does get a little better later on as they go on their wacky adventure together. Only slightly better.

Warning! Ages over 12 into adult will probably not like this film except for those that retain some of their childhood. Teenagers will not like it.It is sort of a cross between Alvin and the Chipmunks and Polar Express in feel. It is about the animated son of the Easter Bunny named E.B. and his real world pal who is sort of like him. So like Who Framed Roger Rabbit it combines animation with real people. What got my attention was that rabbit hole on a Pacific Island. Well, not literally but you will get the idea when you think about that hole for a while. The animation of the Easter Factory was superb which was why I raised it from an eight to a nine. It is short on story line. But the way they merged real people with animation made the movie fun and refreshing. It is recommended for children and those who like animation. Who would have thought a movie with the title Hop would be a pleasant little film? It didn't win any awards but it will entertain most young children.

I guess I will never eat Jelly Beans after watching this movie, and you would probably do the same after watching an Easter Bunny take a dump on screen. Yes, this is Hop. The kid's movie with poop jokes, playboy bunnies, and a bunny wanting to mate with a human. Honestly, why are these questionable crude humor jokes in here? They have a brand marketing pornography company, scat, and bestiality humor in a children's movie! This is a kid's movie, not a stand up special. I have to give the movie some credit, as there isn't a lot of Easter's movies out there, and it as less gave it a try. Still, the movie's plot wasn't that well form out, and kinda dumb. I'm just mad because it could have been better. The movie opening pretty much sums up the movie so you don't really have to watch it. No really, it's explains the history of the Easter Bunny and why the newest one is different from them all. The movie spoils the ending in the first couple of minutes in the film, so the audience is only left with the question; how did this happen? E.B (Russell Brand) is the Easter Bunny's son (Hugh Laurie) who doesn't want to be the new Easter Bunny after his father retires, so he runaway to Hollywood, determined to a rock and roll star. It was here that he meets Fred O'Hare (James Marsden) when Fred hit E.B with his car. Fred is a young man who can't seem to find a job that he's passionate about. More like, he's a slacker who can't seem to find any job at all. In my opinion, I think James Marsden as a slacker seems to be a miscast. I can't see him in any role like that. He doesn't even look like a slacker. In the film, he is pretty well dress, unshaven, and in great shape. I think the movie should have at less, gave him a job that he has, but didn't like. It's more realism than him not working at all. Well, E.B callously and selfishly ruining Fred's life throughout the film with big messes as its bypass as slapstick humor. While Fred and the rabbit become unlikely roommates in a borrowed mansion, at the Easter Bunny's factory hidden deep inside the mouth of a Moai statue on Easter Island is Carlos the Chick (Hank Azaria). I was kinda disappointed by Hank here, as he doesn't give anything new to the role and wasn't funny at all. Carlos wants to take over the factory after being pass over for the job of the Easter Bunny and sees E.B disappearing as a way to gain access. The movie got controversy because some people views Hop depicts Hispanics as deluded and dangerous. Throughout the film, Carlos speaks in broken English with a strong mock-Spanish dialect. Consequently, the film reinforces the belief that Mexicans who speak English with a thick accent are somehow stupid, unqualified, or a joke. I can see that, but I really don't think Carlos was create just for something like that. He's just a silly character with a voice that Hank choice for him. He could have a Scottish voice and still seem like a negative portrayal. So not only does E.B leaving cause chaos in his wake on Easter Island, but its brings a lot of trouble in the human world as well. The premise of the story is a lot like director Tim Hill's earlier Alvin and the Chipmunks films, a man without direction finds his purpose through an unlikely relationship with a cute talking animal and like that movie, the lack of wit or real humor made this movie a real chore to sit through. The movie tries too hard to live up to Christmas movies, by stealing or having similar things to Christmas movie to get kids more into the film. Why on earth did they give the Easter Bunny, a magic sled, if they have a magic hole in the ground that can take them anywhere in the world that works better? It doesn't make any sense. It's doesn't have to make any sense, it's a kid movie. Don't ask the movie to have depth, or meaning. Still, the movie has some pretty good cameos such as David Hassellhoff, Kaley Cuoco, Gary Cole, Chelsea Handler and yes, even Russell Brand yet again as a different character. The movie isn't going to hurt your kids, so it's watchable. The animated/live-action hybrid film genre's movie is probably going to continue, and 'Hop' will join the films likes such as The Smurfs and Alvin and the Chipmunks as really bad movies, but makes a million dollars anyways because it's just something to babysit your children with. Honestly, this movie should be a last resort as a family event for Easter. It's healthier for them to do outdoor activities with their parents than watch this movie in my opinion.
