Broken Arrow
When rogue stealth-fighter pilot Vic Deakins deliberately drops off the radar while on maneuvers, the Air Force ends up with two stolen nuclear warheads -- and Deakins's co-pilot, Riley Hale, is the military's only hope for getting them back. Traversing the deserted canyons of Utah, Hale teams with park ranger Terry Carmichael to put Deakins back in his box.

Wow! Such a good movie.
I don't have all the words right now but this film is a work of art.
It was OK. I don't see why everyone loves it so much. It wasn't very smart or deep or well-directed.
This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
John Woo, Hong Kong Auteur, who couldn't find the right vehicle in America, does a good job here where an Air Force pilot, passed over or otherwise annoyed, steals two nuclear warheads to sell to the highest bidder. His copilot, a man he continually bests and a ranger team up to stop this maniac. Great action scenes and Howie Long has a great scene. Fun movie not to be taken seriously.
One of the best things about this film was seeing a strong female role played by Samantha Mathias. For once Hollywood used a woman who did not have to rely upon a man to save her. This was not a "love interest" part, it could easily have been played by male or female. The direction was good, as with all John Woo's work, and not cluttered up with too many special effects. The action rattled along. John Travolta made an excellent villain and delivered some pretty cool lines - all credit to the script here for avoiding too much cheesy dialogue. Delroy Lindo as ever, was good, as was Christian Slater - good guys are never as much fun to watch as the villains! I would compare this with the under-rated "Chill Factor" rather than "Speed." If you want a film that delivers well paced action, some great one-liners and plenty of thrills, Broken Arrow is one to watch.
"Broken Arrow" was my first John Woo movie, so you can imagine the impact of such an action virtuoso on a 15 year-old's mind and the soft spot I've had for this movie ever since. It created quite the thirst.Getting down to it, the movie's memorable mostly because of John Travolta, who's clearly relishing the bad guy role here. It's a balls-to-the-wall performance (keeping with the tone of the movie) as he feasts on the scenery in almost every one of his minutes on screen. Seriously, the guy's working on a higher level than the rest of the cast, and walks away with the movie from the more earnest Slater.Aside from the delectable Samantha Mathis, it's all slo-mo shootouts and explosions. Bottom line, good old-fashioned cheap thrills.7/10
Maj. Vic Deakins (John Travolta) and Capt. Riley Hale (Christian Slater) are tasked with flying the new stealth bomber on a low altitude test run with two real nukes. Colonel Max Wilkins (Delroy Lindo) is tasked with tracking them. While flying over Utah, Deakins tries to shoot Hale. Deakins ejects Hale and drops the nukes before crashing the plane. Pritchett (Bob Gunton) hired the group of ruthless mercenaries tracking the nukes. Park ranger Terry Carmichael (Samantha Mathis) finds Hale and helps battle the bad guys. When the nukes are found missing, Broken Arrow is declared. This has some of the standard John Woo action. It's excessive and fun. I can do without his overuse of the Mexican standoffs but that's also his style. There is good stunt work and lots of explosions. Travolta proves that he can play the bad guy without a heart. Graham 'Speed' Yost finds a way to write another convoluted script that somehow works. This is more compelling that it has a right to be. It is a bit long. It needs to shorten the last bit on the train to make it more exciting. By the time Hale returns to his people, the movie needs to quickly blow up and wrap up.
