Star Wars (1977), aka A New Hope, is the first Star Wars movie. It is the movie that began the best movie franchise of all time. This movie is one of the best movies of all time. Star Wars is more than a movie. It is a emotional experience with characters that you can relate to. This movie is awesome for many reasons which I will state in my review.Storytelling: This movie had a fantastic story. This movie followed the classic hero's journey perfectly. This movie was more than just getting the Death Star plans to the rebellion and blowing up the Death Star. This movie was about Luke Skywalker and Han Solo leaving behind their past lives and moving on to something greater. Leaving behind the past and moving on to something greater is a major theme in the Star Wars franchise, and this movie started it. With Luke, it was leaving behind his life as a farmer and becoming a Jedi. With Han Solo, it was leaving behind his life as a smuggler and joining the Rebellion. This movie mastered the arts of excellent storytelling and character development. Characters:The characters were awesome, likable, relatable, and as a result, memorable. The characters were full of personality and charisma in this movie. Luke Skywalker: The best movie protagonist of all time. He was ambitious and sought a life greater than a farmer. He wanted to be just like his father. Han Solo: Great character. He was a smuggler in the beginning of the movie. Cocky and selfish on the outside but compassionate on the inside. Leia Organa: Very likable side character who was courageous and put the lives of others before herself.Ben Kenobi: Awesome character. He was Luke's first mentor. He was kind, patient, encouraging, and optimistic. Darth Vader: Awesome villain. He is seeking revenge against his old master.Emotion:With excellent characters and awesome storytelling, this movie is filled with tons of emotion. Here are the many emotional scenes in this movie:Leia gives R2-D2 the DiscBinary SunsetUncle Ben Finds LukeUncle Ben Teaching Luke The Force"For Luck" SceneUncle Ben Death SceneLuke Blows Up The Death StarEnding Celebration SceneActing/Dialogue:The acting and dialogue is excellent. It was perfect for its time and it is perfect today. Many memorable quotes from this movie.Pacing:This movie is paced perfectly. The editing between scenes is fantastic and the movie never feels too fast or too slow. It is a fun, enjoyable ride.Visuals/Sound Effects:The visuals and sound effects were perfect for its time and are still nearly perfect today. It's amazing how a movie that came in 1977 still looks better than almost every big blockbuster today. In Conclusion:This movie is an epic masterpiece and in my top 10 favorite movies of all time. This movie created the standard of what a Star Wars movie should be like. I love everything about this movie. It is near perfection. I am certainly going to give this movie the highest grade possible.Grade: 100%

This is one of the movies which is known for its pop culture and community that spread all over the world 'till this day. There are many factors can indeed happen why this movie is considered as one of the most influential, even George Lucas himself was inspired by Akira Kurosawa's various works such as Seven Samurai and The Hidden Fortress. Although Star Wars is considered as an outdated film ranging from the digital effects, awkward acting, to the visual effects, we have highly appreciated it at the time when watching it in theaters. Now, Star Wars is considered to be one of the most classic in terms of the story and the imaginary world created by George Lucas himself. As with the whole trilogy, Star Wars begins like a fairy tale through a narrative which the story is set in a galaxy far, far away. When seeing the synopsis, we know that the settings taken in this film are the most extensive universe and it seems that there will be many things that appear in it. It started with a charming opening scene from space with an amazingly interesting impression, Star Wars is the most memorable opening with its theme songs composed by John Williams. If you watch this trilogy from The Phantom Menace, there is absolutely a common thread which it fits between the plots and the characters in the universe. Even though like that, watching it from the original trilogy feels like there is a mystery that keeps away from the universe. For example, a reunion between Obi-Wan and Darth Vader which it still confusedly makes us wonder if there was a great conflict that happened before this began.George Lucas also chose a passive method by introducing all the characters in the film. There is one of the iconic villains ever Darth Vader with his memorable voice-over from James Earl Jones, Han Solo with his puns jokes and always has a cool style, the duo robotic of R2-D2 and C-3PO, Princess Leia, Chewbacca, and Obi-Wan Kenobi. The rest of the film focuses on characters who are in a miniature scope and seem like misadventures heroes who try to save the princess. Seems familiar, right? From the appearance of these characters, there is a significant knowledge of the universe but it is still not enough to conclude everything. Furthermore, this is a space misadventure from an innocent young man who doesn't know anything about Jedi and Force immediately start his journey. There is a lot of memorable scenes which make us nostalgic for this film. One of them is Luke staring at the sunset with the score from John Williams. It feels like there's something deep and huge outside the world which is waiting out there, waiting for the appearance of the main heroes who are ready to travel around space. There is Han Solo and Greedo while talking and suddenly one of them shoots a laser, forgot who shot first. There is one mistake where one of the Stormtrooper accidentally bumped into a door at the Death Star where the actor was also severely injured. If you are looking for one on one fights between lightsaber, there is only one and it is tedious. But, I watch the prequel which it feels like lukewarm greetings with long-lost brothers who have never met for several years and once again wants to finish what they didn't finish in the past. Of course, with an iconic character from Darth Vader who is so phenomenal because of his intelligence, his design costume is slightly inspired by samurai culture and his fear when intimidates a person. In fact, R2-D2 and Chewbacca become one of the characters feels memorable in taking their respective roles. With the actors, all of them got a phenomenal performance of the characters they created, although at least they sometimes turn out to be awkward for the small parts. Star Wars becomes a film with a new theme surpassed by an era, as well as 2001: A Space Odyssey or etc. Sure, some of the backgrounds are still unclear about the characters, who is this character and who is that. However, Star Wars is a classic movie known for a marker, a marker between the protagonist and the antagonist on-screen.Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope is known as one of the classic sci-fi films with a technology which has been beaten in this modern era. However, Star Wars became a superior seed in a sci-fi, action, and adventure genre. The most memorable tagline of the time, the characters are known for their individual characteristics, the visual effects were so brilliant at the time, and also there are many memorable scenes possible in this film. Star Wars instills an idea about the world of imagination, about a complex fantasy in all its details and presented in a stunning way from all aspects.

An excellent movie with everything. Entertainern, very good characters. Especially Vader and Luke. The space battle at the end was also very good. Han Solo, C3PO and R2D2 works perfect as comic reliefs. Very good effects for 1977. An excellent movie.

I love this movie! It is amazing! It is the first Science Opera movie in the world. A main character named Luke who lives in a devastated planet gets caught in a galaxy war by his destiny. There is Rebel Alliance Army of justice, and Galaxy Empire of evil. He joins in the Rebel and fights against the Empire. The story is very fascinating for me. In addition to it, characters are also interesting. They have individual personality. Although this is a story of distant world, these characters make audience get a sense of affinity. Their looks are far from us, but they have something real like us. There is one scene which I love. That is when Darth Vader of Empire attacks Luke's fighter. When Darth Vader gives him the last blow, laser attack comes to Darth Vader from a pilot named Han Solo of the Rebel. Darth Vader looks backwards quickly in his fighter. This production is very fantastic. It is because, although Darth Vader cannot see anything of his back, he looks backwards unconsciously. This scene makes audience be excited. By the enemy looking back, audience recognize that the help comes, and Luke will save. This scene emphasizes them.
