Good start, but then it gets ruined
A lot more amusing than I thought it would be.
Tells a fascinating and unsettling true story, and does so well, without pretending to have all the answers.
It's funny, it's tense, it features two great performances from two actors and the director expertly creates a web of odd tension where you actually don't know what is happening for the majority of the run time.
People think that this film is a great animation film but there are many other animation films out there which are way more creative in terms of storyline and characters. I hate to see those films being rated down because some "kids" didn't liked it or didn't understood it...
This movie might have been good if it was devoid of all the divisive political undertones. I am all for saving the world, stopping the hate and riding the 'guilt wagon' into the sunset. But to have this as a regular menu item on all that is, "Hollywierd" or Disney – is just a reflection of youthful arrogance or aging culpability. Stop wasting my time and money preaching your personal views and opportunism. Sadly, the skill-levels of the visual artists involved in this effort, tower miles above the script writers, directors, producers and others influencing the content. Give us a break, please. Leave your politics at home and please stop trying to poison the well of children. That, I think, is more offensive than the strong sexual content within this movie. Don't get me wrong, sexual content (if you really can't write anything without it) can be fine - when it is skillfully hidden. In 'Happy Feet', it was not. I am sure the young will love this production, great – congratulations – you made your money. I used to be a fan of Disney films, but more and more, find them more repulsive than enjoyable. Most productions are not for kids anymore unless their new intention is to divide youth form youth, or children from parents I don't know. At this point, what difference does it make, I don't care. For this movie, I wish I could get this part of my life back. I will not see another Disney production unless I get positive feedback from a trusted source.
Okay... what on earth was this? Well, it's everything a movie shouldn't be; dorky, crude, boring, annoying and idiotic, overall a pathetic attempt to jump on the animated bandwagon. I can't honestly understand why they chose penguins as the characters, I guess because they seem cute to children or something. The plot makes no sense and is just annoying: a penguin can't sing (like any other penguin I've seen in real-life), but it can dance.Uh, yeah, so anyway... there goes an hour or so of my life I can't get back, watching dumb animated penguins with creepy faces as they tap dance and sing like a bunch of feathered idiots. The female penguin is weird, saying something about a 'heart-song' whatever the heck that is.This is a really stupid movie, don't subject your kids to this. There are plenty of other animated movies out there much better than this one and I'm surprised Happy Feet has the ratings it does because it certainly doesn't deserve anything over a 3.
Passable fun. Into the world of the Emperor Penguins, who find their soul mates through song, a penguin is born who cannot sing. But he can tap dance something fierce! I never laughed so hard in my life. After reading some of the negative reviews on here, I just have to say that some people really don't get it. It is very light-hearted and it isn't complex at all. My girlfriends and I were so excited to see this movie, thinking it was going to be a fun movie. The main plot of the film was constantly being interrupted. You can predict the whole movie and ending very easily. If you can find it on DVD, buy it for sure and enjoy.
