Happythankyoumoreplease
Captures a generational moment - young people on the cusp of truly growing up, tiring of their reflexive cynicism, each in their own ways struggling to connect and define what it means to love and be loved. Six New Yorkers juggle love, friendship, and the keenly challenging specter of adulthood. Sam Wexler is a struggling writer who's having a particularly bad day. When a young boy gets separated from his family on the subway, Sam makes the questionable decision to bring the child back to his apartment and thus begins a rewarding, yet complicated, friendship. Sam's life revolves around his friends — Annie, whose self-image keeps her from commitment; Charlie and Mary Catherine, a couple whose possible move to Los Angeles tests their relationship; and Mississippi, a cabaret singer who catches Sam's eye.

Wonderfully offbeat film!
A waste of 90 minutes of my life
It is a whirlwind of delight --- attractive actors, stunning couture, spectacular sets and outrageous parties.
The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.
This movie was released in 2010. I have no idea where it has been hiding or why I have never heard of it. (All Huge Libraries like Netflics and VOD-Thank You) Anyway, there is a lot of out loud laughter and snickering caused by this movie. If I didn't know better I would think it was a "hall mark" except for the off-color words that get thrown around. (This is not a complaint) You can get yourself a bit dizzy over the character's interactions with each other. Since we are now old and not of the Saturday evening movie "Cuddling Group" anymore we discussed a lot of what was going on and made ourselves laugh even more. I really liked Malin Akerman, her happy attitude and outward effervesces was a real centered throughout the movie. Michael Algier's dead pan looks and is straight answers what he was asked made for humor and some very sad instances. Josh Radnor was the center of this movie. He was kind'a of a civilian "Sad Sack". Zoe Kazan and Kate Mara were, well I'd chase both through the streets of NYC. These Actors were spot on with their emotions and reactions to everything. There are no spoilers in this review because you really need to watch HAPPYTHANKYOUMOREPLEASE. and get your own opinions. I hope everyone takes the time to enjoy this movie.
I had enjoyed Josh Radnor's second film 'Liberal Arts' so thought I'd give this one a go too.Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with this film. It's a passable hour and a bit, with some nice tender moments and humour along the way. However, it just didn't grab me in the same way that 'Liberal Arts' did. I didn't engage with the characters as much and apart from the story featuring Radnor himself I didn't enjoy parts of the film.I was also put off by the amount of bad language within the film. I think there were elements of swearing for the sake of it.Overall, a decent film. Nothing special.
This will be my first review on IMDb. And I thought that I owed it to Josh Radnor and the team that brought this film to us, that I tip my hat in appreciation of their efforts.I, like probably everyone else was first introduced to Josh Radnor like such "Have you met Ted?". I'd seen that he would be directing a film, and was intrigued to see what the outcome was. I read nothing more on the subject, wanting to have as little preconception as possible. Then the time came and my heart sank. I am not a fan of large ensemble casts, and the telling of multiple stories at the same time. Perhaps I'm too simple.I often find it difficult to relate to so many characters. Developing each respective character and their story is a fine balance. I usually get left feeling "Why didn't we see more of this/them, instead of those/that?". If I find one or more of the characters boring, I just turn off during their scenes. Or the casting can be off, and I wish one actor or actress had played a different role in the film. Obviously this is all personal. But ultimately I feel unsatisfied. That the concept could've been better "if" But I do appreciate it when it's done well. And bravo Mr Radnor, et al, this is very well done. All the players fit their roles. Everyone seemed so comfortable which came across on screen. Not one character or relationship was over/under cooked. I was able to relate and empathise with every situation in some way or another which ultimately got me invested in the outcome. When you read the story line your thoughts may jump to Love Actually, New Year's Eve or similar. These are the films that have previously left me unfulfilled. They may have good moments, but on the whole feel very contrived. But with Happythankyoumoreplease each scene felt natural, as if I were watching a moment of a real life.I can happily say that this genuinely surprised me. A real diamond of a find.Worthy of so much more acclaim than it has received. And deserving of so much more success than it has gained.
Happythankyoumoreplease is Josh Radnor's first personal directing/writing attempt in which he did pretty well, in my opinion. It's a romantic comedy-drama set in New York that has to do with the lives of a group of adults. Some of them are facing the facts of responsibilities, self-acceptance and choices.Perfromances weren't astonishing but their contribution was rather well for each role in this film. They pulled off their characters part. For those who've been watching Josh Radnor in 'How I Met Your Mother' he may seem quite the Ted but, eventually, you get that it's just Radnor's acting (he's got that Nicholas Cage kinda style). Lots of new actors involved like Malin Akerman, Pablo Shreiber, Kate Mara, Zoe Kazan, and i enjoyed seeing Richard Jenkins again (even for a while).Sweet music by Jamie Seerman (aka Jaymay) and other artists and classic NY locations and atmosphere. It's not a cinematography masterpiece but it's and easygoing film with a moral message worth to be spread and applied.
