I like movies that are aware of what they are selling... without [any] greater aspirations than to make people laugh and that's it.
This story has more twists and turns than a second-rate soap opera.
That's all I need to say. BEST MOVIE IN THE HISTORY OF THE OMNIVERSE.
Dave (Jason Lee) goes to Miami and brings along girlfriend Samantha (Kimberly Williams-Paisley). The boys are bullied by her teenage son Miles who convinces them that Dave is about to propose to Samantha in Miami. They and Miles set off to stop them. On the plane, the boys cause an emergency landing and angry Air Marshal Suggs (Tony Hale) puts them on the no-fly list. It's a road trip with avenging Suggs on their tails. Meanwhile, the Chipettes are judges on American Idol.I'm not a fan of the Chipmunks. I have no expectations and sadly, I have no hopes for this franchise. I'm glad that the Chipettes aren't in the main plot although they managed to get in the side door. They should either be fully incorporated or cut out of the movie. I really don't like Miles and that makes this movie impossible even as he starts to turn nice. The premise would work much better if the proposal is real. I don't think this is good even for little fans of the Chipmunks.
I must confess that I had been waiting to see this film for what must have been forever! I am a huge chipmunk fan. Ever since I first saw "The Chipmunk Adventure" as a child, I have always high a soft spot for those high pitched animals. Today it just happened to be showing at my local cinema and at a very cheap price I thought why not. This is the fourth movie starring these little guys (The Chipmunks, The Chipmunks: The Squeakqual, The Chipmunks: Chipwrecked) and I was a little bit worried that they might be starting to get a bit old and would loose its way. And at the start I thought I was going to be proved right. The beginning opens up with the lead singer from LMFAO, Redfoo, at a surprise party for Dave and performing one of his new songs. It felt like it was a 5 minute promotional video for it, the only way that they could get him to appear in the film. However, once this has happened the movie feels like it is starting proper and I am pleased to inform you, it doesn't disappoint. It isn't a very long running film at only 1hr 32 minutes, but it dosen't feel rushed and the film moves along at a good pace. In terms of the story line it works really well and poses the question of what is family and to quote the film "family comes in all different shapes". The skill of making these CGI characters interact with the 'Real World' is impressive. Whether this is just the interaction with the actors or ensuring the reflections in the glass or shadows on the ground, they have done everything to make you believe that the Chipmunks, and of course the Chippettes are as real as you and me. The film also has a break away from having the character Ian Cross in the film. This did make a nice change but apart of me did miss him. The film was highly amusing and kept me entertained throughout. The only criticism I would have is that it was difficult to hear the lyrics in the final number and as it wasn't a track that would have been heard before, unless you got the soundtrack, made it difficult to understand. But apart from that I loved the film and already added it to my Christmas List to Santa and I can't wait for the fifth installment!Just Average Joe Film Review Score: 10/10 http://tajfr.blogspot.co.uk
This movie was great. I loved it, when I'm normally not too into kid movies. My kids loved the movie. My 2 year old sat still and was so into the movie that she forgot that she was eating. She absolutely loved this movie. I have no idea why other reviewers rated this movie so bad. It's cute and funny and there is a lot of catchy songs on it too. What's not to like?!? It was a very cute and sweet movie. I think it really showed what love really means, even though we are all human (in this case chipmunks) and we all make mistakes we try our best to make it up to the people that we love and to show them that we really do care about them. It also shows that sometimes you can start off on the wrong foot with someone, but that can easily change at any given moment.
