Oh, you liked the PTSD in You Were Never Really Here? Well, have some more!A bunch of US soldiers return from Iraq and start to crack up under the strain of their mental issues. Some fare better than others, and it's all a bit grim. The bleak depiction of America's Veteran Affairs system is utterly galling. You'd think a country that basically lives on war would provide excellent standards of care for its returned servicemen, but apparently no-one gives an arse.Languages spoken: American.I rate Thank You for Your Service at 24.97 on the Haglee Scale, which works out as a gritty 7.5/10 on IMDB.

It was compelling at first, I'll admit that, but then I saw red flags. First of all, working class guys like these three don't act like this at all. The transition from normal everyday soldier to complete screw-up is too ridiculous to believe. One soldier's memory is just fine in one scene, the next, he has become this complete screw-up with PTSD and trouble remembering things. Then he ends up looking for drugs in the hood, attacking his wife, destroying his apartment, just ridiculous stuff.I mean, life is rough, but you have to have severe mental problems to screw up as much as the characters in this movie. I know a few vets around town and they're not all screw-ups coming back to a life of pure misery. It's just ridiculous.

I didn't know what to expect when I decided to watch this on a flight home but I am glad I did. I know the feeling having served and coming back into civilian life. It wasn't easy. As I watched, I felt every emotion the soldiers felt. I have had what they portrayed. I have asked my wife to see it as there things that are hard to say when one has PTSD. This movie shows not what happens to just American Soldiers but Soldiers around the world. If you don't know anybody in any Armed Forces you may not get this movie; cause you won't appreciate it. If you do, it's an insight to our struggles and governments lack of resource for funding to help those who have served to give a Democracy the freedom and protection people think is free.

Everyone talks about PTSD these days but this movie shows you the heavy stuff that soldiers have to go through when they get back home from the war. This is a very serious issue that I wish more people would pay attention to. I cried a few different times during the movie. So did my sister. Also I never have understood all the hate for Amy Schumer, but in this movie she is not very good and almost look like she's laughing during some scenes? I don't know. She should stick to comedy though, it took me out of the movie. Hayley Bennett on the other hand was AMAZING!!!! I want to see her in more!Watch this movie!
