A Major Disappointment
It's fun, it's light, [but] it has a hard time when its tries to get heavy.
It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.
It's simply great fun, a winsome film and an occasionally over-the-top luxury fantasy that never flags.
Before the final I was gonna give 6 stars but what was that....
Vince Vaughn keeps growing as a dramatic actor and excels in the role as a man who is stuck between a rock and a hard place. He does everything right but is surrounded by incompetence and takes out his rage on peoples FACES. Seriously, there is more smashing of people's faces in this movie than any other film I have ever seen. Vaughn doesn't just punch people in the face, he gouges eyes, brakes off noses, and flattens countenances. That being said, if an old grindhouse prison action drama doesn't sound like your thing, your correct and you won't like this movie. But if you are up for a challenge to your expectations, this movie is perfectly made and may just surprise you as a great example of its genre.
It took me half the film to realize this guy was trying to speak with an Oakie, hillbilly, coal miner, blue ridge mountains, country roads accent. I don't know where he's from but Vince ain't from any of those places. Once I got the accent figured I realized this flick is just another stupid, crude, flimsy attempt at white trash prison noir...... for the redneck in all of us!
Have I just watched a completely different film from the one that was rated as 7star !High ratings surely from cast, crew, friends and family only. Wooden acting Fight scenes from a school stage school Story line from a middle school am-dram Closing scene comical Terrible camera work & production Seriously, this is a complete sack of doo doo. Do not waste 2 hours of your life on this.
