Great Film overall
Pretty good movie overall. First half was nothing special but it got better as it went along.
It was OK. I don't see why everyone loves it so much. It wasn't very smart or deep or well-directed.
It was refreshing to watch a black comedy with well known actors and actresses in the film with no cursing and not insulting one's intelligence. Before this film, I was not a fan of Duane, but I'm most certainly now. I did not realize how sexy he is. I have seen almost all the episodes of "All of Us" too. He was delicious, especially at the part when he is in the aisle of the Shrine trying to win Jhnelle's heart back. That look he gave her after she said, "What do you think?". O my gosh! Sweet and tasty. I did not know Kelly could act. I watched her in Nelly's video...I do not know the name of it, but you know what video I am talking about. Kelly played Jhnelle's part perfectly. I gathered the character was young and pure. Yes, she owned it. My favorite scene was her and Al(not known as Derrick yet) at Santa Monica pier. When she gave Al this innocent kiss and then she looked down then looked at him with a face that said, "I am a virgin, please care for me gently, I love you". Ever love a movie so much that you badly want to meet and speak to the cast? That is how much I love the movie. I want the soundtrack. I am looking all over the web for the CD. I can not find it. Help! When it becomes available, it is mine! The only reason I gave it a 8 and not a 10 is because I did not like the ending at all. Rick, Mark, Duane and all involved just left me hanging. Not right! No disrespect, but I would of rather a juicy ending. Simply disappointed with the ending, but a must see and will love film. Not the traditional black comedy, thank you. : ) More Duane and Kelly, please.
I have no idea why I watched this garbage to completion. I guess I was just tired and it was very, very late at night. Ridiculous, totally unrealistic plot, horrible acting, and if I heard the characters say "anyways" or "wit" (with) or "dat" (that) ten times, I am not exaggerating. Shemar Moore makes an appearance in this film...why, I have no idea. Nude photos of him surfaced on a gay beach which doesn't surprise me. But back to the movie: Don't waste your time. Lousy, ridiculous plot, characters who mangle the English language; very trite, but maybe if you're trying to sleep, it will work out for you. Lame trash at best.
This film is very easy on the brain. Duane Martin and Kelly Rowland take the lead in this very untaxing romantic-com movie.Theirs not much to it. Boy meets girl out of his league. Boy tells girl lies about who he his. Girl eventually finds out that boy is not who he says he is, girl throws a strop does not return his telephone calls (cliché cliché cliché)!!!! then eventually girl and boy meet again and fall in love ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!.boom boom...........Acting was not great from Kelly Rowland but she will get their in the end. Mel B's acting was very disappointing, I kept cringing every time she spoke and I was hoping cos she is a fellow British, I would be their cheering her on (unfortunatly not on this occasion).Definitely one to watch on regular TV with a nice cup of coco then nod off.
A young and educated man is unfortunate enough to be holding down a job as a seat-filler at celebrity events while awaiting the BAR examination. One day, while at work he is accidentally taken to be someone else but a beautiful superstar who falls in love with him. Delighted by the interesting turn of events, he mindlessly goes along for the ride that leads to an equally interesting turn of events.Destiny's Child's Kelly Rowland stars as the ambitious superstar singer, Duane Martin is the charming seat filler, Melanie Brown of the Spice Girls plays Rowland's personal assistant, and soap star Shemar Moore plays Rowland's ex-boyfriend who won't take no for an answer. It's a straight-to-DVD sort of film but it's not as bad as it seems.
