Thanks for the memories!
So much average
To all those who have watched it: I hope you enjoyed it as much as I do.
This is a gorgeous movie made by a gorgeous spirit.
Stephen Traxler's "Slithis" somewhat reminded me "Humanoids from the Deep".A gill-man body is made from radioactive mud. This strange monster is butchering dogs and people in Venice,Los Angeles. The police is not helpful in solving the case claiming that the murders are the work of Mansonesque cult."Slithis" is an enjoyable monster movie, but it can be extremely dull is spots. There is not enough Slithis attacks in the movie. There is very little going on in the first hour of "Spawn of the Slithis" and I was bored. However the monster suit is excellent and it should be shown more often. The acting is terrible with vapid performances of an entire cast, but "Spawn of the Slithis" doesn't deserve its current low rating. That's why I am gonna give it 7 out of 10.
This amateur movie, which somehow made it to late-night TV is without a doubt the worst monster movie I have ever seen. The story is incoherent and the main characters overshadowed by long sequences dominated by one-dimensional minor characters. I am sure that it is no coincidence that all but a few of the actors in this film never appeared in another and for all but a couple of those who did, Slithis was their final effort. The monster is ridiculous but not as ridiculous as the story or the acting. I hesitate to call it the worst monster movie ever only because I cannot claim to have seen every monster movie ever made. So bad it's really just bad.
The final word in low cost production values - this 'film' is extraordinarily utilitarian in every aspect, from sets (an industrial park wharf) to the community college outreach theater cast, it has it all!! My only complaint is that they wasted all of that good COLOR film to make it (it sort of defeats the "film I made with my bottle return money" feel of the whole enterprise.
I saw this movie as a little kid in 1978 and it scared the ---- out of me. Had nightmares for a long while. Then, years later, I rented the video, curious to see what it was that horrified me so much. What a ridiculous piece of ---- the movie turned out to be after all! RIDICULOUS!!!
