I love this movie so much
Great Film overall
The acting in this movie is really good.
Actress is magnificent and exudes a hypnotic screen presence in this affecting drama.
Don't Go In The Woods is a horror film like others in the early 1980's which appears to rip off some elements of the Friday The 13th films although it fails miserably at doing so.The following review does contain some spoilers throughout!Four campers Peter, Ingrid, Joanne and Craig hike through the woods with the intentions of having a relaxing weekend. Whilst our four main characters are venturing further into the woods an unknown killer is dispatching random people who come into the woods in bloody fashion. Will any of the campers manage to escape the woods alive to civilisation.Don't Go In The Woods does initially have something going for it despite being low budget however the film at times is all over the place and lacks purpose. The killer murders his victims without any motive and to make up for the disappointing effects there is a little comedy here and there. As for the carnage scenes the most memorable scene for me is when one of the female characters discovers the killer's cabin and when he returns she tries to escape through a small window and is slashed to death with a machete. There is also a cringeworthy scene with a couple who are celebrating their honeymoon in a caravan before they are both eliminated. When most of the secondary characters show up some of them have little or no dialogue before they get killed and the ending to the film is very strange involving a minor character who has been abducted. The music at times is not always fitting although the track that is playing during the end credits of the movie is comical.I would rate this film 4 out of 10.
This is about the best bad movie I've seen yet. Bad acting, ugly women. At least Ron Howard twin sister was able to find work though. There's also an awesome song at the end credits. LOL!
***SPOILERS*** Hiking through the woods of the great Pacific Northwest a group of campers run into this deranged maniac who feels that their encroaching on his territory. Unlike the more of less harmless and , despite his overly hairy appearance, likable Big Foot this guy really means business who not only takes out most of the campers but a number of unrelated persons including a bird watcher and wheelchair bound nature boy along with them. The manic looking like an extra from the movie one million years B.C does his dirty and bloody work with what looks like a both saber and fur covered club dispatching as well as decapitating, the crippled & wheelchair nature boy, more then a dozen victims. With the manic getting out of control it's now up to the local sheriff, who looks like a king size version of Michael Moore, to rustle up a posse to stop the carnage from spreading beyond the tree-line and into the nearby population centers. Meanwhile back in the dark woods two of the surviving campers Peter & Ingrid are left to face the killer alone at his cabin in the woods where he keeps his victims body parts in storage to cook and eat later. With the sheriff and his posse nowhere in sight it's up to Peter and Ingrid to take the manic on single handed in his home turf or territory that lead to the incredible blood soaked final. For a movie with non actors and a bottom basement budget "Don't go in the Woods" really accomplishes, in scaring its audience, what it set out to do. In fact one of the scariest scenes in the film had nothing at all to do with the campers, whom the manic was out to murder, but a couple in a trailer Dick & Cherry. Whom he not only sliced up but in Cherry's case set the trailer in fire and rolled in down an embankment with her, after being sliced to pieces, in it and still alive and screaming hysterically!P.S Check popular Texas DJ Ken Cater as the more then 350 pound sheriff who despite his size and being in no shape to be hiking or slumbering through the woods is, in him sticking out like a sour thumb, totally overlooked by the manic who had no trouble at all taking out a number of far lighter and faster victims who unlike Carter were no real threat to him!
This film is not meant to be taken seriously. If your a slasher fan or B-movie fan, then you'll like it. Its a fun movie, were the killer is a man with rags for clothes that growls like an animal. He offs his victims using sharp pieces of woods, and a log with a knife strapped on it, WOOF! The acting is horrible, but it adds a charm to the film, (along with the quality). The score to the film was also quite enjoyable. Not much of a very gory gut movie but a quite a bit of blood. For those of you who enjoy the video nasties, this ones for you. Its to bad the killer meets such an unhonorably end. Stay away if you don't like the B- flicks.
