Excellent, Without a doubt!!
Best movie of this year hands down!
what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.
The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
A very loose and disappointing sequel to The Cell, Cell 2 stars a Sandra Bullock lookalike as a clairvoyant on the trail of a serial killer named The Cusp. Fifteen minutes into the movie and we know who the killer is. Shot on no budget, this Utah-lensed video makes little effort in the special effects department, in stark contrast to The Cell with its operatic sets and imaginative use of CGI. So it's pretty much a standard criminal pursuit film, and the truth is one can get more kick out of an episode of TV's Criminal Intent. Toward the end, for a few seconds, we get to see our clairvoyant heroine all gussied up. And I must admit I wouldn't mind spending a little time with her. But she is no Jennifer Lopez (or Sandra Bullock) in the acting department, at least not here. Frank Whaley costars.
Heard a lot of positives about Cell directed by Tarsem Singh, so was intrigued to watch this one. Never saw the prequel but Cell 2 zaps you with some weird psychic powers enjoyed by the lead character Maya(actor Tessie Santiago).Probably the only thing you might like here is a near full-frontal nude scene by one of the lady victims or a car chase sequence(which isn't exactly cool but will do).Acting is just about fair from everyone in the cast but I would give slightly higher marks to Chris Bruno as police officer Harris. The story is okay dokey but what happens towards the end takes the cake! Maya who could only access your subconscious mind(or whatever) and check out some of your memories, at the beginning of the movie, can towards the end almost control mentally the way you function?! Pleease. Alright, its just a movie but it didn't look in anyway convincing. And the serial killer who calculates his every move to avoid the cops becomes a real dummy in the end escaping from them. No careful thought from one thread of the story to the other.Verdict: You can completely ignore this one. I WILL you to!
Wow, I don't think I've ever seen a movie with less thought put into it. Mostly I'm annoyed with the helicopter. Come on, they land and stop to talk to the officers in the trucks, but wait, they do it on the radio without anyone getting out of their vehicles. At the scene, the helicopter lands and the people that were in it do nothing to contribute, but if they'd stayed up in the air, they would've seen the perp get out. In the long chase seen, the perp magically appears in different areas due to very poor work splicing cuts together.I could go on and on, but I won't. Just don't see this movie. This bears little resemblance to the original and looks like it had little thought put into it by the director and producer. The Skylar character was awful too. To be fair, the other actors weren't nearly as bad. I think Chris Bruno actually did okay. The cheapness in this film was incredible. I can kind of understand doing a messy landing instead of really crashing the helicopter, but getting ALL your books from the library?
Just like the summary, the MacGyver TV show was better. It had a better storyline, plot summary and special effects. For this movie to be have the same name as the first cell, it's quite a cheap knockoff of the original. The premise behind the serial killer was cool, but that was about it. Personally, I'd rather watch livestock hump. Thank goodness this was a DVD rental. If we had paid upwards of 20 buck to see it in the theater (40 with popcorn and soda) I would have either demanded my money back or be serviced by an Albanian midget as compensation. Does that sound absurd to you? Yes it does. It is as absurd as this movie remotely being linked to the first one...---end of line---
