Shadowzone
After someone is killed in the subterranean project called "Shadowzone," a NASA captain is called in to investigate. In the project, sleeping subjects are induced into a deep EDS state whereby they become portals to a parallel universe. Unfortunately this causes adverse reactions in the subject, and something gets through the portal, the consequence of which is an attrition problem.

Very disappointing...
A brilliant film that helped define a genre
It's entirely possible that sending the audience out feeling lousy was intentional
While it is a pity that the story wasn't told with more visual finesse, this is trivial compared to our real-world problems. It takes a good movie to put that into perspective.
I just love these old classics, you can watch them over and over again and never tyre of them.I recently bought this original of ebay,an ex-rental as they have the original trailers etc on them and boy was it money well spent! I have a fantastic collection of these original movies and this is one of my favourites! It has all the horror and gore and tension you could want along with a bit of nudity chucked in for good measure.I'd say this is a must for serious collectors if you can get a copy as this has been deleted in original format since 1993!The story is good and the special effects are above average for the budget the late 80's early 90's horror films usually had!Go get it now and have a great slice of retro horror in your proud collection!10/10
"Shadowzone" is a fine horror film, if one with a few irritating faults. The story does have many similarities to "Alien", yes, but it's backed up by a smart script and some tense, suspenseful scenes, excellent performances, and great gory special effects. Louise Fletcher, who I generally find to be a pretty bad actress (See the 1986 "Invaders from Mars" remake for proof...)gave a very fun, amusing performance as the chap-stick-obsessed scientist. James Hong was awesome here, it's a real shame he was killed-off so quickly! David Beecroft ("Octopus") also gave a good performance, even if he keeps things a little too straight-faced. J.S. Cardone's screenplay and direction help the film greatly as well. There's lots of suspense, scares and effective moments. Also good here, as I said before, are some great gory special effects. The "Ick" factor is high in this one!Among the complaints I have here is the ending. Not only is it unsatisfying, but it also feel cheap and rushed. The final incarnation of the creature was surprisingly laughable, quite unexpected considering how nice the quality of the effects throughout the rest of the film. "Shadowzone" is a rear horror film, but if you happen to find it, rent it. It's an atmospheric, well-done horror/sci-fi film with excellent performances, a smart script, very nice special effects and a good (if far-fetched)plot. Enjoy!7/10.
passable alien rip off the script is only so so but the acting is first rate Louise Fletcher is awesome here she is very likable and gives a credible performance nice! David Beecroft is good here i liked him quite a bit he was tough as nails sometimes but overall he did a good job James hong is good here although i sometimes had a hard time grasping what he was saying Miguel Nunez is amusing here i liked him in Return Of The Living dead and i liked him here i think he is pretty funny it has some gory sequences but the pacing is uneven and is at times too talky there is however lots of nudity and the film is kinda predictable and quite campy and this should not be taken seriously but the monster is laughable looking and the ending is quite lame overall a passable rental and is only worth renting if it is under a dollar ** out of 5
Wow, I'm at a loss for how bad this movie is. I love Full Moon and all of their early work, such as Puppet Master, Trancers, and Demonic Toys, and I have a great appreciation for a lot of their talent and independent films, but this?! This doesn't get any stars from me!There is not one character to care about, the plot is full of holes, the story, or lack there of, is atrocious to begin with...I can go on, but I think I'll stop. Bottom line, if you thought full moon movies they make today like Trancers 6, Stitches, and Shrieker suck, you haven't seen anything until you watch this! At least those movies had maybe one or two redeeming moments. This one has noneTake my word for it and listen to this warning. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME! I love horror, I love B-Films, but this movie fails to meet the expectations I have for both. 1 out of 10
