Great movie. Not sure what people expected but I found it highly entertaining.

The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.

The film may be flawed, but its message is not.

There's a reason they filmed this with the worst quality possible. I ate a sandwich while watching every "brutal" scene (minus the fake vomit, bc that's the most realistic and sickening thing). Pay attention to when they move the camera away, then what happens once it's back. Take the scene with the two girls. Why does the blonde look like she's literally had blood streaks painted on her (no wound would ever cause those oddly perfect lines of blood running down almost her entire body), yet in the previous scene (yep, before camera cut), she's got nothing on her but whatever she spit out of her mouth to look like vomit?!? Now, it really turns into a comedy when they (again) cut away from the brunette and then back to her just in time for him to cut into her abdomen. I mean she wasn't a small girl, but why has her stomach become massive suddenly? Go look. It looks like she's suddenly 9-months along. Then, that scene that probably grossed so many out...when he sliced into her. You would have to have ZERO knowledge of the internal organs of a human to believe whatever he was pulling out looked like her bowels. The poor camera helps their attempt, but he's pulling things out that look like they could be several spleens or kidneys?!?! Do not let the fact that it's grungy and dirty everywhere make you think these effects are realistic. Watch the camera, and what it doesn't show!

August Underground is one of the most amazing horror movies to ever be seen. This is not your usual Friday the 13th/Chucky/Nightmare on Elm Street type horror movies. This movie will make you have a queasy feeling inside you as it did me. The only other movie I've seen that made me have a queasy feeling in me was Slither. August Underground had the feeling in me longer than Slither.August Underground is about two men. The killer (played perfectly by Fred Vogel who is also the director and CEO of ToeTag Pictures) and his friend (who plays the cameraman) go around and film their exploits on their victims. Fred Vogel rapes, kills, pukes, and does other revolting things in this movie. This movie introduced me to underground horror. There is not really a plot in this movie, but there isn't supposed to be. It is just a simulated snuff film. It is supposed to show how serial killers really are. They are perfectly normal people during the day, but at night, they turn into killers and show their "talents" to their victims.A lot of the scenes in this movie I just couldn't stand (in a good way). Fred really did do his job and this movie deserves it's justice. In his interviews, he is a chill guy and he is polar opposite in AU. This movie makes you question whether or not the victims were real people getting killed. They did an excellent job. I think the scene that really got me was the brothers scene. God, it was so disturbing and graphic. The female victim scenes were revolting as well. The whole movie is disturbing but it is supposed to be.I really don't understand the negative reviews saying the movie is garbage and ToeTag should shut down and everyone involved be killed. It is simply a horror movie. True horror. Nothing more. The people that watch this aren't going to kill people after watching it. They just like horror movies same as someone who likes romantic or comedy movies.I have August Underground: Mordum and have ordered August Underground: Penance. I heard that Mordum is the most vile out of the trilogy. August Underground looks to be pretty tame compared to the other two. AU to me was pretty graphic so I'll have to decide that.I hope I meet Fred one day and get my DVDS signed and tell him what a great director/actor he is. I will be getting Maskhead and Sella Turcica eventually as well.Long live ToeTag!P.S. I have the 2 Disc Snuff Edition of August Underground and let me tell you: The special features opening was scary as hell! Fred is with another victim telling her to tell the viewers to pick a special feature and it is just super scary.

OK, I heard about this series of films a while back, and read up on the director, the production company, what they have done since etc.etc. I don't really have a strong stomach for violence, but i do like to be shocked. And, to be honest, it took me a while to get round to picking this ( the trilogy ) up and preparing myself for what i'd heard was a pretty shocking ride. I was quite cautious putting it on, and expected to either turn it off or fast forward at some point. well, what a let down. Granted, it is pretty vicious, but not in a way that is going to disturb anyone, at least anyone of a reasonable disposition. I can only see anyone really enjoying this if they are using this purely as a means to fulfil some sort of need for pointless aggression, which is just what this film is, pointless. I have given it 3 stars, and that is purely down to some of the dialogue being, and i am sure many will disagree, quite witty, and i am sure it was not scripted at all. i can't believe there was a script involved in this full stop. Also, the apparent lack of motivation for any of the events in the film could be considered interesting if it were handled in a more professional fashion. I believe the director quotes 'Henry; as one of his prime influences, more precisely the home invasion scene. Well, that scene, and film in fact, is pretty shocking, and i'd recommend that over this a thousandfold. I can't quite work out what the director was aiming to achieve with this, because a certain connection with the situation, or characters, is required to engage the audience enough to care about what happens, and this just isn't the case. you don't care, you are just waiting for the next shocking thing to happen to see if it repulses you, and quite frankly it doesn't do that. I started to watch the sequel, which appears to have a far more sexual motivation, but had to stop due to having something better to do, and i don't think i'll bother watching the rest.I don't think vogel is totally talentless. He can't direct, clearly can't script a film and his acting sucks ( there seems to be a pre-occupation with ridiculing victims because of their weight, when none are anywhere near as fat as he is, which is quite unfathomable ) but put him with a team of competent, talented film makers and i reckon you might get something really good out of him. Having said that, avoid this unless you really feel the need to watch it, i expect the reasons that most people would want to see it are because of the supposedly shocking and outrageous violence. Well, it isn't shocking, and neither is the sequel ( of what i have seen ), only a bit sad and misguided.

August Underground. One Word: Poo. Seriously, i was expecting myself to be turning away in disgust and feeling sick. But what i saw...well bored me senseless. I read so much about this film and it didn't deliver. I'm so disappointed. This film is not worth watching, it's so much pointless violence and filth, with no plot, just two very mean people doing very mean things. Cannibal holocaust was worse than this and that was made in the 80's. Seems that Old Skool won this time! OK now i go on to spoilers to complete my rant, so to those who want to view this piece of crap don't look. Its a great film, don't watch it.***********SPOILERS************** OK so our two main characters are turds. They think they're hilarious but they're not. At the start the fat guys says to his partner 'Your gonna love this' and then it was a tied up bloody woman, and they started laughing. He sounded like an elf. Really annoying after a while. Then the fat guy shows the body of the boyfriend to his mate. Which his mate asks, 'Wheres his penis!' and starts laughing. Not funny really? Just a bit annoying. Then like, they pick up some woman who they approach her saying 'Hey sweetie'. It's the middle of the night, and she still got in the car with two guys. Fool. Then they get her to flash and its like wow, you saw a pair of boobs, don't get all giddy. Then the bit in the supermarket it just gay. 'SNIFF HER ARSE!' So you kill people, rape them and stuff, and you evil plan is to sniff they're bums. Smells beautiful i bet. Then ending, if i had taken it seriously, was pretty like disturbing but its over so quickly i didn't take it in and the killer like, stops raping her pulls up his pants, and carries on smacking her over the head? He was like 'OH CRAP' its like you don't feel remorse? What? This film is stupid.
