As Good As It Gets
The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.
It was OK. I don't see why everyone loves it so much. It wasn't very smart or deep or well-directed.
I didn’t really have many expectations going into the movie (good or bad), but I actually really enjoyed it. I really liked the characters and the banter between them.
For most my life I have grown up watching horror/action movies, but never before have I seen something this 'unique'. This movie provides the right balance of action with the perfect amount of character development. I don't think I have ever been as emotionally attached to a character as I have with this movie. The plot was nothing short of amazing and left my heart racing after every scene. The CGI was on par with Avatar. One of my favourite things about this movie was the superb introduction which showed us some amazing directorship in terms of plot and characters. The cherry on the cake for this movie had to be the ending. It tied everything up in a neat little knot and left no plot holes. It was all relevant to the story and left me satisfied and smiling:) 8/10 would pay full price.
This made me laugh so hard...which is why I have awarded it 3/10 Me personally I love zombie and horror films, this however a total fail. The film is about the usual biological weapon escaped after an accident and everyone's getting infected at a crazy rate. I have absolutely no idea where its supposed to be based, America? The main defense guys (soldiers)are all yanks...I honestly have no clue its confusing. Lets talk accents, it was funny because we had people who who were clearly eastern Euros who could not do the accents lol it was so funny. Also the basic English was wrong, it was like watching teenagers practicing a play the way they were speaking their line and very poor grammar. Weirdly the main star was Christian Boeving who is a real American who is reasonably famous...but he well and truly over over played the American soldier as always with Americans. There was also a British guy in there low listing celeb who appeared I think on Emmerdale, however am not sure you would have to check the credits. Now despite both the Brit and the Yank neither of them mentioned the poor English to the director or writer. Appalling. The acting was So corny, and that guy Dragon LOL really, it made me laugh, we have a Scot an American, some Easter Euro, the girl was a fake American. It was hilarious. The Story line was stolen from so many films, now I know many films these days steal ideas and stories from films and books but this was really taking the Michael. The military officer infected himself with the virus and turned in to a zombie like the 1 in Resident Evil, I could easily list 10+ zombie films names and story-line they have stolen but it will take too long. The Effects at the beginning weren't too bad, it was like they had a budget and they blew it straight away as the effects got worse and worse throughout the film. Again I was laughing when I saw a fat zombie running and looked like they were out of breath, lol.If you love cheap tacky corny films, with extras as actors, zombies what look like their wearing masks, poor effects and terrible acting with atrocious accents then this is the film for you lol. However if you want to have a laugh watch this film once, at least they had a go.
You would think a movie made in 2013 and is about zombies has to be at least o.k, and have common sense, but this is like a 70's cult classic shot with HD cameras. Even then, I think THAT would be a compliment. Let me spoil this for ya, because if I don't you will waste your damn sweet time here on this earth. This is my top 5 reasons ...5. The zombie makeup looks awesome (which is where the budget went shot), but when they all come out you could tell there is a zit-faced teen inside the costume. They act like they were all scary but c'mon man! The Thriller video had scarier zombies than this.4. The crew that you first think are the foreign terrorists, turns out to be the All-American military task force you are supposed to be rooting for. They all have an accent from every corner of the globe, and are supposed to all have special and unique expertise in killing. But when they join forces as a team, they act like they were only cub scouts. 3. Everyone has a one-liner. It's like they all competed to have the last line for a commercial if it would be in one. It was full of it Terminator 2 style. Or Expendables, even though I haven't really seen it, but I could imagine the dialogue in that movie.2. It is so predictable, you feel like you're watching this for the second time, but wanna feel like you never even bothered. This is what happens when a young and fresh college graduate from film school, who grew up liking Justin Bieber pop-type music gets his first shot at directing, producing and writing a movie with help from his buddies who studies Business Administration. 1. The President of the U.S.A looks and sounds like a Dutch Techno nightclub owner in a spandex muscle shirt. If this movie was serious, then please don't watch this. If you do, then wait until you might see it for free on youtube if the Chiller channel passes on it.
The US military tried to make a super soldier. (The film lost one star of five, there.) As a side effect, a bad strain of communicable toxin was released near a town in Eastern Europe, Romania specifically. (Spare me.)A small group of rejects are sent in to clean up the mess. They soon see that they are considered expendable. They encounter the daughter of the biologist who created the mess in the first place. Can the US military be thwarted and the world saved? -----Scores------Cinematography: 8/10 OK, mostly. At the end, the worst fake breasts I've seen in a zombie film.Sound: 6/10 If one is going to dub certain actors, at least hire a good voice actor, and give them reasonable lines.Acting: 1/10 Some human beings showed up, hit their marks, and read their lines, so I guess there was some acting. Accents are all over the map. Some actors are dubbed, badly. The samurai lady looks like she's never picked up a sword. The sniper is using a single-shot bolt action rifle from mid-20th century, and using it badly compared to the legend of his accomplishments.Screenplay: 1/10 Terrible dialog, not much of a story. Absurd origin tale of the outbreak. Cliché ridden.
