Rats: Night of Terror
One hundred years after a nuclear war has devastated the planet, society has been reborn into two factions; the underground society and the scavangers above in the wastelands. A group of scavangers on bikes come across a town infested with flesh eating rats, and soon the gore is spilling everywhere.

just watch it!
an ambitious but ultimately ineffective debut endeavor.
There's no way I can possibly love it entirely but I just think its ridiculously bad, but enjoyable at the same time.
This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.
This like many Italian post nuclear films of the 1980's is much the same. The characters were bland, but a lot more sympathetic than those in the Final Executioner. They were supposed to be a warrior group, but acted more like wusses - my four pet kitties would take on the rats with more bravery. One, of the character's performance was so hammy, I thought "Are you totally serious?"Diana "I Want To Die!, as if she was giving an overly theatrical performance, rather than acting with a bit of commonsense. Lady, seriously, come on! The male characters really weren't much braver in terms of their fighting ability. Having said that, I liked Kurt, Taurus and Chocolate
Hundreds of years after a nuclear war has ravaged the planet, a biker gang happens upon an abandoned building out in the countryside that's under attack by giant rats and forcing them to put up a fight against the creatures to survive. This is no doubt an incredibly cheesy film, and it reveals in it. From the outlandish dialog that is simply laugh-out-loud to the bad retro- futuristic clothing and post-apocalyptic setting along with the general premise itself, this is one cheesy film. That alone gives it its most powerful plus, as by keeping it light and fun, the edge is taken out and the incredibly goofy tone can be appreciated. The pacing is also a pleasant surprise, as it starts out fast and doesn't really slow down all that much as the gang arrives at the house within the first five minutes and the first attack comes shortly after that. From there on, it's non-stop and does an excellent job of keeping the interest on the screen either through its intense action scenes or the cheese on display as both never fail to entertain. The attacks themselves are quite nice and brutal, and result in some nice scenes down in the basement during the examination of the harvesting conditions on the site, the battle in the bar that features scores of creatures approaching them as well as the numerous scenes where the rats fall from the ceiling or the walls and overwhelm the victims which are some of the most suspenseful attacks being full of spectacle and action. The other sequences in here are just as action-packed, including some flame-thrower use and some grenade attacks, coupled with some bashing and running around, move the film along with the action make it a fully action-packed film. That, though, highlights the fact that this one does manage to feature enough suspense to counterbalance the cheese that it really comes off even better than the initial impression, with sleeping bag death being a prime example as it's enormously cheesy and provides the movie with some gore as well as scenes of the group noticeably trying to get away while down in the basement and must maneuver through a swarm mere inches away or the highlight piece of them trying to force their way into their hideout against the oncoming swarm as the others debate the merits of letting them in or not. These are much better than expected, and along with the cheesy gore and bloody deaths provide this with plenty of positives against the few, non-detrimental flaws. The film's biggest turnoff is the fact that at times this is pretty much a series of rip-offs and imitations from elsewhere, and while the premise is exactly like several other films thrown together there's enough remnants present to give that feel. The second half is exactly like any number of zombie films, the opening evokes many different post-nuclear war road films, and the final five minutes is pretty much like every virus-containment film around and doesn't do much to hide itself under these influences. The other big problem is that the film really doesn't make too much sense, as the explanations are so vague and out-there that it's hard to really get a sense of what's going on. Other than the cheese not being for everyone, this isn't all that bad.Rated UR/R: Graphic Violence, Language, Full Male and Female Nudity, a sex scene and graphic violence against real animals.
A significant horror genre is Euro-horror. These movies from Spain, France, Italy, Germany and occasionally others are rarely scary, but nevertheless show some REALLY nasty things. Directors in this genre include Antonio Margheriti (to whom Quentin Tarantino briefly paid homage in "Inglourious Basterds"), Dario Argento, Jean Rollin, Jess Franco, and Bruno Mattei. The first Bruno Mattei movie that I've ever seen is "Rats: Notte di terrore" ("Rats: Night of Terror" in English). Set in the years after a nuclear holocaust, it depicts a motorcycle gang riding into an abandoned city, which turns out to be populated by hungry vermin. Woe betide you if you venture into THIS city! "Rats" is a truly cornball movie. But, it was probably intended as such. I have no doubt that its target audience was horny teenagers. The movie delivers exactly what it promises and makes no pretense about what it is. It's gross, but it's still pretty fun. Probably worth seeing just to understand what it is.
The other Bruno Mattei film that I have seen is "Night of the Zombies" aka "Hell of the Living Dead" aka "Virus" and another couple of names. When I saw that film first it was under the title "Night of the Zombies", though in that film most of the zombie action took place in broad daylight. Here the title fits as nearly the entire film occurs at night, at least most of the rat action. This film is also a better quality movie than "Hell of the Living Dead", however, you will notice I gave that one a four and this one a three. Let me explain. One, I like zombie movies better and while that one is certainly a zombie flick this is a killer critter movie. Two, that one was a bit more fun to watch for me. While this one looked better on film and did not have any horrid stock footage, this one just did not grab me like that movie. Though both movies have a bit in common in that both of them end rather good. In "Hell of the Living Dead" you see a really good zombie attack in a park or something at the end which was better than most of the film. This one too ends quite well albeit a bit annoyingly as it sets up questions that will never get answered. Loved how that thing looked at the end as it looked rather creepy especially the eyes. On to the plot, it is 225 AB. What is AB you ask, well it means after the bomb. Yes, it is a post apocalyptic film about survivors roaming the surface looking for food and such. And what a group it is! The gals all look like they came straight from an MTV music video of that era and the guys are a mixed crowd though a couple of em have beards. This group is on the look out for food and in the rest of the film while they try to survive the night of rats one will wonder how the heck have these morons survived up until now? Seriously, they find food in this strange well made up little town like place. Buildings all around, but hey there is sugar and flour and lots and lots of rats. Well, you know the drill and from the title of this film it is fair to say I am not spoiling anything when I say the rats soon go after the humans to consume their flesh! Would have been better with more gore, perhaps a bit more nudity and more rats! I know, there are quite a few, but one never really gets the impression that these people are truly being overwhelmed. There are also one to many scenes of what looks like stuffed rats being dropped on the heads of our actors. The infighting was completely unnecessary and seemed to come out of nowhere and then there is the girl who gets bitten and hangs around only to die in rather retarded fashion. Also, what was with the girl in the cape? In the post apocalyptic future girls will either have big hair or wear a phantom of the opera cape apparently. So while it was still bad, it was rather entertaining to watch, just not quite as entertaining as "Hell of the Living Dead" another of Mattei's masterpieces.
