Don't Believe the Hype
At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.
The acting in this movie is really good.
This movie is the movie version of my life. As a young child, i always felt the need... the need for murder. I would ask my mother, "Woman, why can't people hurt other people?" When i grew older, i decided to join a science fair. My experiment involved the adverse side effects of very large penises enter different orifices of my body. Unfortunately, in my experiments, the all mighty Santan decided that i deserved HIV, for he had a bigger plan for me. He came to me in my dreams, spinning tales of point values for murder, and the importance of consuming urine. It soon became apparent that he wanted me to try to kill as much as possible. In my adolescent years i realized, "damn, my sister's a babe," so we started banging. My mother grew jealous and wanted in and my father left us when he found out about our so called "abomination". Once i started driving, i used Satan's point system to entertain myself, but i was imprisoned for 20 years(during which i performed many more experiments) cause i screamed "FIFTY POINTS" out my car window while running down a pregnant woman in front of a police station.
I can appreciate movies that blend horror and comedy, and some of my favorite horror films are of that sort. This is NOT one of those. The characters are so utterly lacking in any redeeming qualities, not to mention any brains at all, that you can't care about them in the slightest. After watching this movie, I had to issue an apology to all of the horror characters I have called "stupid" over the years, for doing those things we know will get them killed. At least they would have, had they lived, LEARNED from the error! Not these people! After a very short time, you find yourself almost hoping they will all die, and quickly, so that the movie will be over. The acting is pretty lame as well. No real sentiment from anyone, no noticeable emotion at all from that very odd child. The only one that wasn't a bad actor is the bad guy, who never speaks. No acting isn't bad acting, after all.The set isn't terrible, but it isn't anything special, either. Costuming is the ONLY area that wasn't horrible. Some of that was actually pretty decent. The guys will like the older sister's getup, and the villain's costume is really rather creepy. So, one star for costuming. The plot? If I could find it, I could discuss it. If you have read the basic outline, you got the entire plot already.Perhaps this was supposed to be some sort of social statement. If so, I recommend some therapy for some people, because, wow..... If there was a town as far gone as that, the human race would be extinct! I was hoping for something a little campy, but entertaining, like Trick 'r Treat, for example. Or something creepy, with humor, like some of the better horror (The Lost Boys, An American Werewolf in London, Lake Placid, etc.). What I got was a waste of time. We only watched the entire thing to see if there would be a cool plot twist to redeem the story. It would have been better to turn it off and pick another movie. The only good thing about this was it was streaming on Netflix, so I didn't loses any rental fees, just time.
Words cannot describe how utterly dreadful this film is, but I'll give it a quick go.I'm not sure what the intention was at the outset of making this atrocity, whether it was intended to be funny or not, or if it is just so painfully bad that it was actually supposed to be serious, but whatever the intention - it failed miserably. The plot revolves around a young boy - who fancies his sister - going around with a serial killer, who he believes to be Satan, while the killer murders people. The boy is either stupid beyond belief, or mentally ill, as he for some reason believes that this is all fun and part of a game. (He's old enough to understand that it isn't, but seems incapable of achieving even this basic level of understanding). The story is terrible, the characters are terrible, the whole thing is just mind-blowingly crap that it will leave you wanting to gauge your eyes out so that you don't have to watch any more.If ever there was a contender for Worst Film Ever Made, this would be right up there.
Contrary to what people believe, this film was actually quite entertaining and I applaud rather than shun the crew for using Halloween masks for their film.Considering their low budget, I also applaud them for how this movie turned out, it was not the best I have seen - obviously - but it was a good, entertaining slasher-type film.Even though it could have been better, I enjoyed the movie throughout and especially loved seeing Amanda Plummer playing the mother role. The storyline wasn't as strong as some other movies, but it did flow all the way through. It was nicely executed with a tad of black comedy hidden beneath.I enjoyed it and recommend it to anyone, I'm sure you can pick this movie up any cheap DVD store for no more than 5 dollars - I hope.
