best movie i've ever seen.
The acting in this movie is really good.
The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable
one of minor horrors . clichés, blood, few good performances, dark secrets and the sacrifice of good guy for a noble cause. the film made for the fans of actors, for a precise public - B films are defined by it -, for memories - One Flew over the the cuckoos nest is the first reference - and a lot of insignificant horrors . only interesting, maybe, the first part, who falls in a chaotic story about truth. survive, love and few heroic scenes. nothing more. only a run and well known themes. and the hope to understand a sketch who propose a cast who must imitate the acting. the image of mad doctor and courageous young man are axis of a return to "50 horrors but, against the good intentions, the result is far to be reasonable.
for fans of genre. for the fans of actors. and only for them. because the film gives nothing new, interesting or unpredictable. the good guy victim of dark plan, the fight for survive, the experiment and the end who preserves possibility of the second part. Peter Stormare and Jesse Metcalfe looking transforms the roles in credible ones, a script far to be generous but inspired to use large area of dark hospitals, zombies and mad doctor, blood, metamorphoses, the end of terror who is only first step of the second. nothing original. but not the worst piece of genre. the recipes is the same - well known actors and a poor /conventional script. so, a film for the fans.
The first thing that comes to mind after watching Insanitarium, is that it really hasn't been what I expected. Not in a good way nor a bad way, just as a plain fact. I expected another Horror film which takes place in a clinic/hospital, and got something completely different which I have actually enjoyed quite a bit.Insanitarium could be roughly divided into two parts. In the first part - the exposition was too short and lacked information in my opinion, and the build up was hardly believable and made little sense. Then again, it did come to make sense afterwards once the events unfolded. The first part basically showed us what life's like in a psychiatric hospital for really severe cases, with a conspiracy theory about a revolutionary experimental drug administered to the patients against regulations and common sense. In the 2nd part - all hell broke loose, as the vicious side effects of the drug were made known and the patients broke free. This film was rightfully labeled Horror/Thriller, with the second part having some Action aspects. All in all, like DimensionKeeper said in the message board - "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest meets 28 Days Later". The way I see it - Insanitarium is a perfect Zombie Apocalypse prologue. It's not terrifying but is scary and has its moments. A little too much gore for my own personal liking, but not too much and not out of context. It felt like it could use some more work on the screenplay, maybe a nice twist, but all in all I enjoyed watching it.
One key factor in good horror flicks is some nudity. Another key feature is lots of blood. In this case we get both. A real schizo with a penchant for sex covered in blood and looking for more action. Yippee! Add to that a mad doctor (Peter Stormare, who is perfect in the role) who turns his patients into flesh eating zombies, and horror fans have something to root for. There is even a Nurse Ratchet, and a Hannibal Lecter in the film, as the director attempts to pay homage to other horror films. As you might expect, the central character is Jack (think Cuckoo's Nest), who gets himself committed to find out if his crazy sister (Kiele Sanchez) is OK. Jack (Jesse Metcalfe from "Desperate Housewives") soon finds out that things are not OK, and joins with Dave (Kevin Sussman) to get his sister out.Loved the ending!
