You won't be disappointed!
There's no way I can possibly love it entirely but I just think its ridiculously bad, but enjoyable at the same time.
Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.
what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.
Many movies have earned the title of "Worst..." acting, directing, writing, casting, or special effects. Well...this one wins in ALL categories. The premise is preposterous. The acting is horrendous. The special effects are non-existent -- and covered up by badly-lit night-time scenes. It's a good thing Elisha Cuthbert grew into a great body, because she couldn't get far with the level of acting here. Joe Mantegna looks like he's trying to find the emergency exit -- from the film! All in all, this would have been a great "After School Movie" designed to empower tweener girls that they, too, can solve all the problems in the world -- world peace, landing airliners, well you get the idea. If I were Joe Mantegna, I'd remove this film from my resume'.
I have seen airspeed several times and I think the movie is absolutely excellent. It shows the courage and selflessness of a girl that in the end saves several friends and family. The film kept me on the edge of my seat and I loved it.The fact that a young girl almost single-handedly flew a plane to safety is tremendous and the help she got from her rock - a guy who works at the airport was truly life saving. The movie is filled with tension, belief, love, selflessness, courage and bravery.I recommend anyone who has not seen the film to watch it" :~)
Good to see a movie like this, a modern day classic! From the get go you feel an attraction to this film. The filming techniques and feel to it comes very good across to the viewer. The best acting comes from the young girl and the flight controller. I put this movie up there with some of the best, the Exorcist, Some Kind Of Wonderful, and many more. The landing of the plane by the young girl, is awesome, you really feel like its real. The shots of the runway on approaching are amazing, I have seen a lot of airplane movies, but none with this kind of unique imagery, closeness, amiable characters, moving and thrilling moments and wonder! As time goes on, this movie I believe will stand the test of time as good classics do! I highly recommend it!
Bad acting, bad writing, dumb plot. The only reason to watch this is teen hottie Elisha Cuthbert. Even a competent actor like Joe Mantegna can't make the lines he's forced to say sound believable. His reaction to his daughter's plight is too calm and business like, as if he was told his luggage would be slightly delayed. Concentrate on Elisha and ignore the rest.
