Very very predictable, including the post credit scene !!!
hyped garbage
best movie i've ever seen.
It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.
Why the heck am I still watching Godzilla movies?? This one has the gall to re-use a plot from an old movie. Once again aliens have come to earth and are controlling Gidrah(Ghidorah). But this time there's a twist! The aliens are cockroaches! The roaches have some dirty hippies and a Japanese Bill Hader trying to thwart their plan, which involves blowing up their tower which is made to look like Godzilla for reasons that I never understood. But there are some truly classic moments.Godzilla actually talks and it's hilarious. And speaking of talking, one of the characters says "Godziller". Comedy gold. Gigan smashes a building and the people in it are dolls. Too funny. This is just for fans of Godzilla, most people probably wouldn't enjoy it.
I'm a massive fan of kaiju movies so I come to these films predisposed to like them. I've seen most of the original GODZILLA series and am attempting to fill in a few blanks; one of those is GODZILLA VS. GIGAN, a late-entry instalment that pits Godzilla and his old foe Anguirus against new space-monster Gigan and an old enemy, King Ghidorah.GODZILLA VS. GIGAN is plenty of fun from beginning to end, and the formula for that success lies in having a human interest story that's just as entertaining as the monster stuff. This time around, a group of environmentalists and employees investigate the mysterious owners of a new Godzilla theme park, soon uncovering some dark secrets which inevitably throw Japan into peril.Godzilla is on good form in what is one of the grisliest of the series (who knew you'd end up seeing a Japanese blood spray in a children's film?). Anguirus is my favourite kaiju monster, purely because he isn't capable of much and it's kind of sweet to watch him getting beaten on so much, so seeing him here was a delight. Gigan proves a deadly foe - especially with that saw! - and King Ghidorah is, well, King Ghidorah. You can't go wrong with that combo, and inevitably GODZILLA VS. GIGAN turns out to be a colourful, action-packed romp.
...and i don't regret it one bit. This is classic kid-friendly Godzilla, doing for man what man can't do for himself; fend off yet another alien invasion by interstellar miscreants with a disgusting secret. The characters are dynamic, and again kid friendly, and the actors who play them actually do a fairy decent job of it, making the film that much easier to enjoy. And, as for Gojira himself, we get to witness the more dynamic and athletic Godzilla battle yet again the aliens' secret weapons; a couple of space monsters; Gigan and King Ghidorah!Accompanying Gojira is Megaruis, a.k.a. Anzilla from "Godzilla's Revenge", but, like the well meaning best friend who comes to support his buddy, he's more monster fodder than anything else. However corny, hokey, and sometimes just plain fake the Japanese effects are, there's something really compelling about Godzilla that brings us back for more.If you're single, pop in a copy for a trip down memory lane. If you have a family, then watch it with your son and enjoy some bonding time with the king of all monsters.Enjoy!
When it comes to Godzilla there are many great moments that I remember. Who can forget when he first appeared and laid waste to Tokyo. Or when he battled King Ghidorah on Planet X and fought King Kong on Mount Fuji. Also his epic duels against his mechanical double Mechagodzilla. There are many Godzilla films that I think back upon with great memories. Unfortunately Godzilla vs Gigan is not one of them.Godzilla vs Gigan begins with a young comic book animator who is employed by a company that resides in a Godzilla Tower. The people that work in the Godzilla Tower are somewhat suspicious and soon it is found out that they are really Kilaak aliens that resemble cockroaches. Their great plan for domination of the Earth involves using King Ghidorah and another monster named Gigan to take over the Earth. It is up to Godzilla and Anguirus to save the day.The issue of Stock Footage must be brought up again as I review this film. WHile it is true that Godzilla's Revenge used the highest percentage of Stock Footage for monster scenes, there is no doubt that in Godzilla vs Gigan the stock footage is used terribly. You can see the difference in the Godzilla Costumes used in previous films and the one used in Godzilla vs Gigan as they show old footage from other movies, mainly Ghidorah the Three Headed Monster. Also the main fight in Godzilla vs Gigan takes place during the night time, but most of the stock footage shows fighting that took place during the DAY TIME!!! Half of the fight between the four monsters, Godzilla, Gigan, King Ghidorah, and Anguirus is taken from previous films and that is always disappointing when you are shown old footage from films rather than new footage. You would think that a tag team battle would be a good thing but that could not be farther from the truth. There are too many scenes where monsters are just standing around doing nothing like in Gamera movies. The fight is often interrupted with human scenes. Interrupted in a good way since it takes so long for anything to get going.Another issue is the fact that the costumes for Godzilla and Ghidorah are awful. Godzilla's costume is falling apart after having been used in the three previous Godzilla films, well actually two since it was not really used in Godzilla's Revenge. Ghidorah is mainly shown in stock footage but when he is not the costume that is used never moves anything other than the wings and head of Ghidorah. I really don't see why Ghidorah is in this movie other than the fact that he is Godzilla's best opponent. The film is titled Godzilla vs Gigan and you would think they would want to show case Gigan by himself and not have him share the screen with Ghidorah.Anguirus looks pretty good. However you have to wonder if there was any reason for him being in the film (other than being the first monster to carry on a conversation with Godzilla in plain English) as he really gets beaten up pretty bad by Gigan and really does not help Godzilla out that much. WHoever choreographed this fight should have been fired. This movie is not all bad though. Gigan looks awesome. He really is a great monster opponent for Godzilla and definitely one of the most physically impressive. I always liked this version of Gigan better than the one in Final Wars. Gigan gets to do a lot of damage on Tokyo and Godzilla and ANguirus. When he uses his stomach buzz-saw it is nothing short of complete annihilation. Also he gets the honor of being the first monster to make Godzilla spill blood. The music is awesome as well. It is basically the same score as in Destroy All Monsters so at least you can enjoy listening to this movie even if you have to put up with watching it.The whole concept of Godzilla saving japan always bugged me since he is so much better as a threat to Japan. And the idea of alien take over on Earth is really getting old and used up.OVerall this is not Godzilla at his best. The music and Gigan are really cool, but that is about it. It just seems like I have already seen this movie with the plot being a similar one to past Godzilla Films and too much stock footage. Definitely one of the worst Godzilla movies along with Godzilla's Revenge. I do not recommend seeing this one.
