That was an excellent one.
Please don't spend money on this.
Admirable film.
The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
Wow...Just wow. Watch this film and you will see the origin of children psychopath films and it doesn't get better then this. Original fantastic creepy non-diegetic sounds and a female lead that knock the door down in terms of terrifying style. Had to watch this for a class and regret doing it late at night. Film utilized high key three point lighting throughout that really popped the characters faces and costumes. Excellent film would recommend.
The movie " The Bad Seed" of 1956 directed by Mervyn LeRoy is a quite a fascinating movie. It is a very original horror/drama. Patty Mc Cormack was most definitely one of the best characters. Her performance was really goods the villain in my opinion. I think this movie could be one of the best child performances I have ever encountered. I also thought that Nancy Kelly had a great role as mother in this film. Evelyn Warden fits perfectly in her role. Ellen Heckart as the murdered boys drunk mother stole the show. Her acting was also superb. This film was a little stagy in some aspect, however it really didn't effect the film in a bad way. If anything it actually kind of enhanced the atmosphere in my opinion. This film had great suspense towards the end of it. It thought it reached new depths of of oddity and lead up to a pretty predictable ended. every mystery was was revealed one after another. I could see this movie being re-made at some point. I think it would be interesting to watch with the effects we have in today's world.I would rate this movie as a 7/10 it wasn't too bad
This is one of the creepiest old movies I have ever seen. The girl Played by Patty McCormack is excellent. She is excellent in being very creepy and innocent at the same time. The song that the little girl plays seems innocent at first then gradually becomes more sinister as the movie goes on. The other music in the film is well placed and stirs your nerves the way its supposed to. The acting of the janitor Leroy is just a creepy as the girl. He acts dumb around the others but when he's with the girl he's almost normal. The drowned boys mother plays a good drunk the first time but the second she's outlandish and it makes her seem fake. The mother of the girl is a very good actress and she is believable the entire time. The camera-work is very good. I liked that it never showed anyone dying except for the little girl in the end. The costume design of the girl and her pigtails are always kept perfect. The movie is great but it's a very creepy movie because it deals with child murderers.
I would definitely say that this film is definitely classified into the right genre. This film is a great horror film, I like how it was not like some of the horror movies that you see now a days were all they consist of is jump scares. The story line of this movie kept you interested and entertained throughout the whole film and it was truly a horror story that was shown in a great way in this film. I think the actors in this movie did an awesome job of portraying their characters and made this film even better and kept the audience interested in the story. One thing that I have to say about this film is that it does have a very dark story line, or twist to it shall I say but overall I have to say this was such a great movie and was a true horror movie that gets you scared!
