A film with more than the usual spoiler issues. Talking about it in any detail feels akin to handing you a gift-wrapped present and saying, "I hope you like it -- It's a thriller about a diabolical secret experiment."
Story: It's very simple but honestly that is fine.
Blistering performances.
The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
This one sets one... I came across this movie because I'd just read the article about Walt Disney's last words written on a piece of paper on the death bed - "Curt Russell".Following my "WTF?" I came to IMDb and checked Curt Russel's recent movies. Thus, I found Touchback. The movie is naive at some points but it kept my breath still for some moments along the way.In two words I would readily call this movie a younger brother of "Moneyball", don't know why, but I just feel this way.The movie touches some grown up disappointments mixed with teen-age expectations, but they all come together wonderfully by the end.Loved the experience..Walt, you were right.. if there's Curt Russell, there's a story. Touchback makes sure of it.
SPOILER! Seriously missed the mark. I couldn't connect with the characters, couldn't feel for the reformed bully jock, his band geek future wife, the stock inspirational coach (come ON Kurt, you're better than this!), the hard-working downtrodden hard as nails single mom who NEVER saw her 'Mr. Football' son play a game? Not even his senior state championship David and Goliath game?! Please!!! If I got a second chance like this cat, I wouldn't watch this movie again, much less run the same play that crippled him the first time around. Feel good movie? Not really - I felt mild disgust at the melodrama, but it couldn't even get my emotions worked up enough to go much beyond apathy!
Touchback is the story of a football player who gets a chance to relive his high school days, at the end of which 15 years ago, he injured his leg and thereby lost his chance to go to college and play as a professional. As he finds himself in a known situation, he relooks at the very things (present) knowing well what is the future. Initially he is excited that he can now literally rewrite the past, especially his dream of getting out of the small native town he has grown up in and become a professional football player. However, his interactions with his coach, his own single mother and most of all with an unknown girl (who in his present is his wife) in the college - not unknown, but he never really did notice her then - he begins to see the beauty of the present. His mother challenges him to be happy now, rather than eternally keep chasing happiness in the future. Finally when he actually has a chance to change the present, in line with his grand plans for the future, he does the same as he did then, 15 years ago... all for the sake of retaining what is most important in life... love and friendship of those dear and not personal plans for glory.I wonder how many of us, if given a chance to go back into our past and change things, would change the whole of it? Or some of it? Or most of it? Blessed are those who will live it as it is and be happy about it! Because only then will each present moment count and every choice made valuable, because my present is more important than my past or the future... because my choice for the right and lasting things of life is more important than momentary glory and honour.http://vcastilino.blogspot.in/
Touchback of the Football Nation This was a pretty good movie. If you play sports or football, this would be a perfect movie for any high school sports player. But there were some part of the movie that could have been better, but overall a pretty good movie. It was slow but interesting, I honestly wish there were more suspense in the beginning but in the end, it was a good movie. The main character is Scott Murphy, he live in Ohio. A small town called Coldwater. He went to Coldwater high school; he was a good student and the star football player, he was also injured in a game and it put a strain on his life. It really made his life hard. This movie had a lot of good moments; the football games were really cool and really interesting. I also think that the story is slow but as you actually watch the movie, then it starts to get better but there were some other good parts to the movie. I think after the injury, it was okay but as the movie got to an end, it was good. The effects and the music in the movie were perfect. The setting was also good because it was based out of Coldwater, Ohio. So that was a plus, I also think the plot was a good idea and I think the animation was amazing. Its effects, music and game footage were the best parts. There were A LOT of negative things about this movie as well, it was slow, boring, not interesting and confusing. It was honestly one of the worst high school football movies ever; it was boring and didn't have a lot of footage of the football games. It was like the beginning was confusing at first; it pretty much stayed that way through the whole movie. Also, it was in need of improvements and changes. Like I said, it needed a lot of improvements. It was boring and not interesting. The characters were okay for the movie I guess. I think if they would've had better and more experienced actors, then it could've been a way better film. Scott Murphy was a good actor for his part, I think for his part in the movie, it was easy, so pretty much anyone could've aced that part. I think the audience is for teens in football or involved in sports. It's a good movie for high schoolers. It could've had more famous football players or just experienced football players. Also, could've had longer football footage or more football games. The movie could've been better and it needed a lot of improvements but it was an okay movie. I guess it just wasn't an interesting movie could've had better moments and better actors. I don't recommend this movie to anyone who likes sports movies.
