Too much of everything
The acting in this movie is really good.
Very good movie overall, highly recommended. Most of the negative reviews don't have any merit and are all pollitically based. Give this movie a chance at least, and it might give you a different perspective.
The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
Passenger 57 is an absolutely brilliant thriller which is enjoyable to watch. The film is full of action, tension, explosions and awesome and powerful Martial Arts moves. The film has an excellent cast starring Wesley Snipes as John Cutter, Bruce Payne as Charles Rane, Tom Sizemore as Sly Delvecchio, Alex Datcher as Marti Slayton, Elizabeth Hurley as Sabrina Ritchie, Michael Horse as Forget and Marc Macaulay as Vincent. Wesley Snipes acting as Airline Security Expert John Cutter is absolutely brilliant and his Martial Arts moves were awesome. Bruce Paynes acting as the malicious Terrorist Charles Rane was also absolutly brilliant and he sounded very evil the way he spoke in the film which was also absolutely brilliant and Bruce really did a brilliant job acting as the villain Charles Rane. The acting by Tom Sizemore as Sly Delvecchio and Alex Datcher was also brilliant. The acting by Elizabeth Hurley as Sabrina Ritchie, Michael Horse as Forget and Marc Macaulay as Vincent as the terrorists who were part of Charles Ranes team was also brilliant. There are so many things that I like about this film, one thing is that the Passenger 57 theme tune is absolutely brilliant and sounds awesome and really goes with the film, another thing is that the action is awesome and amazing. There are many more things that I like about this film, it's hard to say what they all are but I definitely can say that Passenger 57 is an absolutely brilliant Wesley Snipes film. Wesley Snipes does some excellent films and in thrillers he has starred in, when he has to fight he does fight very well and in this film he really kicks ass when using his Martial Arts moves to fight against the villains. Snipes may not be as strong as Michael Jai White but he's got skills in a few Martial Arts and is quite powerful. In Passenger 57 when John Cutter is on the plane wanting help he is seated holding a book called The Art of War. The film the Art of War starring Wesley Snipes is also an excellent film with action and awesome fight scenes. I don't know why Passenger 57 is underrated and has been given only 5.9/10 and why some people have given it low scores of 1/10, 2/10, 3/10, 4/10, 5/10 and 6/10. Those people who have given Passenger 57 low scores and written unfair comments about the film are dickheads because this film is awesome. People who given it 7/10, 8/10, 9/10 and 10/10 are not dickheads and know that this film is an awesome film. One thing about Passenger 57 is that you definitely won't be disappointed when watching it because it's absolutely awesome and amazing and I definitely will watch this film again because I don't find or think it's boring. I absolutely love this film and definitely recommend watching this film if you really like Wesley Snipes films.
Believe it or not but i have seen the trailers many times before as a kid but have never remembered to see the movie... until now. Wow! what a fun experience! The way the lines and action was timed, got a lot of laughs from me.This, ladies and Gentlemen is one of the examples of a bygone style of action movie making that is lost forever. They had an editing rhythm, a certain style of smart and funny lines, basically they were aiming to be as fun as the old Tom and Jerry cartoons. Everything felt real, there was no CGI plane, in fact there must have been just 5% of VFX work in this film. The build up to the action sprinkled many hilarious clues of what is to happen. There was a twist i did not see coming and that person had contact with knuckles at the end. The main Villain had some wonderfully fun lines to deliver. I haven't laughed at puns in years. This one got me by surprise. There was a scene where i had to pause with laughter when Snipes runs out of the control tower and karate kicks the life out of one officer. LOL. it was timed so well.If you haven't seen this Wesley Snipes movie then do it now! Its a tight action movie that is very fun to watch with beers and friends.A weird detail i noticed..Wesley Snipes was in the "Bad!" music video facing off against Micheal Jackson. Here.. his female lead looks like Micheal Jackson!Wesley Snipes..man...he is a popular actor for sure but had so much potential to be a superstar. Now he is back. Somebody give this guy a real movie.
Of all the 'terrorists take over a...' DIE HARD clones made since the success of the Bruce Willis blockbuster, PASSENGER 57 has to be one of the cheesiest. It's an unashamed B-movie, a pulp adventure writ large, that happily rips off scenes and situations from DIE HARD 2 for the most part yet manages to be a success despite the almost complete lack of originality. I think the main reason for this is the hilarious script, that isn't afraid to throw in ludicrous dialogue and god-awful one-liners (Snipes' "Always bet on black!" will be an lifelong favourite). Add in the awful fashions and you have a film that's incredibly dated, yet somehow caught in a time warp: as each year passes, this one just gets better and better. It's also an incredibly short film, running through the scenarios with relish and with nary time to take a breath. Snipes is a counter-terrorist type who's a passenger on a plane that's taken over by terrorists, led by stock bad guy Bruce Payne. Payne plays the usual unpleasant/intelligent British bad guy with relish, in a performance that's so hammy it could do with a little mustard on the side. He's supported by an unusual group of terrorists, including a geeky guy, a Native American-type with a turquoise earring and a pre-stardom Elizabeth Hurley looking pretty lovely. Snipes, for his part, has Tom Sizemore in the thankless "guy on the ground" role, and stewardess Alex Datcher, who bears an uncanny resemblance to Michael Jackson! The action comes thick and fast with lots of Van Damme-style punch-ups with various villains. Snipes kicks, punches, and often goes for the groin in his battles with the enemy, and takes time out for a shoot-out at a fairground which includes some MY LUCKY STARS-inspired hijinks atop a Ferris wheel. Things return to the air for a somewhat rushed climax that delivers the goods in a final showdown between hero and villain. I'm sorry, but I love this movie. It moves so fast that you don't have time to think about all of the plot holes, and the touches of surreal humour work a treat and far more successfully than those in a film like Van Damme's SUDDEN IMPACT. A so-bad-it's-good gem of film-making.
Although it's a quite well executed show with variety too, where we're not just in the air for a long time, Passenger 57 doesn't achieve all it, sets out to. Snipes is solid, while great British character actor, Brice Payne, is menacingly unforgettable, a guy you don't up close to, or personal with. Also unforgettable as his girlfriend, stewardess, is Hurley who doesn't do a bad job either, playing bad good. The film feels like it's been cut short somewhere, and does share quite a few faults, that de cheapens to it a cheesy level, but the film is a lot of fun. Too is watching Snipes rip into Payne, the fight near the end I would of loved to have been longer. What I liked especially, before take off, is a number of scenes, as too a flashback one, involving Snipes's wife who was killed in a liquor store hold up, hence, why he got into the business of counteract terrorism. An early scene is a great humorous and demonstrative show of plane security. A couple of other scenes, we gain a little knowledge into terrorism. Here's some far fetched scenes: 1. Payne jumping out of a window, from about four stories up, and managing to still get up 2. The plane of passengers not reacting to the sound of sirens outsides, as if they don't exist. 3. Snipes rolling onto the tarmac in the path of one of the wheels but avoiding it. 4. Snipes grabbing a bag of popcorn at the carnival, without paying while in full view of the proprietor. Want me to go on. And why the hell would you have a carnival with rides and that, next to a frickin' airport. And how they got away at the end, when back on the ground, telling the news, it was all a safety anti terrorism experiment I couldn't believe. But hey, lets avoid all that, and just get caught up, watching Snipes kick arse, in this not badly made, by very cheesy flick. An addictive cheese at that.
