Such a frustrating disappointment
i must have seen a different film!!
Good concept, poorly executed.
Excellent, Without a doubt!!
I wasn't really expecting much watching Kangaroo Jack and I got more or less what I was expecting. It is not a terrible film as such, just very bland and too silly for my tastes. It has some good points, the scenery is lovely and the soundtrack is decent. Kangaroo Jack is what makes the movie, he isn't in much but he is amusing when he appears. The rest ranges from adequate to poor. The human actors are simply not very good, their characters are bland while Estella Warren can't act and Jerry O'Connell is annoying. The writing throughout is very weak, with the humour either too childish for adults or going over children's heads. The story is thin and very idiotic with the ending particularly too stupid for words. The editing could've been much smoother too. All in all, good kangaroo, not so good a movie. 4/10 Bethany Cox
one of the worst ways to spend an hour and a half of your life. I'd rather have root canal work on every single one of my teeth than watch this again. I can't believe that people actually paid money to make this piece of tripe, let alone paying to go and see it. The censors should have killed it before it even got to the cinema. The Aussie accents are ridiculously overblown. the slang is overdone and crass. the plot is threadbare. the actors are wooden (except Louis). The setups are obvious, the jokes are juvenile. The fake scenery is ridiculous and totally unnecessary. Basically if you're aged 5 or under, you will love it. Otherwise, i'd recommend that you give it a miss. Go watch paint dry - it's more entertaining.
Kangaroo Jack isn't so much a bad movie as it is mediocre and utterly confused. This movie feels like it's having an identity crisis where it's not entirely sure what message it wants to send, what genre it wants to fit, what audience it wants to target, and where it even wants to end up.The leads are slightly entertaining, albeit not very funny. They seem like they're trying to put in a bit of effort into the movie, which is welcomed gratefully, but the biggest problem here is the screenplay. The screenplay is just hackneyed, clichéd, predictable, and extremely stale. The whole idea behind the picture isn't all that creative, but it did have a bit of potential, I thought, had they been able to realize what they were writing wasn't really all that funny. This is one of those films that I can't blame the actors for. They were capable and had enough chemistry that they could have pulled off a decent comedy. The problem was that the director had no idea if he wanted to do a kiddy film or a comedy or a Rush Hour knock off or a crime thriller...As a family film, Kangaroo utterly fails. There's nothing here that I think kids under the age of eleven would find enjoyable, and anyone over that age would be a little too sophisticated for the jokes in this romp. But even if the film had aimed more for adults rather than kids, I still don't think the filmmakers would have been able to pull it off. Bottom line, the jokes are too adolescent, unless they're being crude, and the dramatic parts are far too silly.3/10
I know...ten stars seems excessive, but this is one of the funniest movies that I've ever seen. Top five. I'm watching this movie as I write this. I've seen it a couple of times, and I swear it gets better every time I see it. It only got one star out of four, which is the worst it can possibly get, and I understand that...really, it is not the most intelligent movie in the world. However, if you feel like kicking back and relaxing, you feel like watching a movie that doesn't provoke thought or discussion, you feel like laughing hysterically, this movie's for you. I'll admit that the entire premise of this movie is dumb, but it's funny, genuinely funny, and I love it.
