Terrible acting, screenplay and direction.

Am i the only one who thinks........Average?

Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.

An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.

Despite the best of production values I found this to be a total dud. As a fan of revenge films and after reading the high critical ratings and reviews, I thought this would be a "can't miss" but it was a "should miss." No nudity at all so there was not even any titillation. Compared to the Jodie Foster revenge films this should rate a zero.The rape scenes are not involving because the actress is not able to convey the horror of the rapes. I actually thought she was enjoying them (there are two in one night). This would have been a great Noir fetish film or black comedy if it had been outlandish enough or funny but nothing was unique or humorous. She wants to kill the aggressive type men but then she wants to kill the good men too. She is mute so there is no interesting dialog and even though she is supermodel hot facially, she is not sexy at all.She never needs any practice or prep. The progressions are made without context. After a couple of reflex kills she goes to a park and is surrounded by a gang of thugs. Somehow she has become a super "Dirty Harry" markswomen and shoots them all easily, thanks to editing. The ending is just plain nothing.

'Angel of Vengeance', or 'Ms. 45' as it is better known, this early career urban drama from Abel Ferrara follows a mute woman who becomes mentally unhinged after being raped both on her way home and upon arriving home after startling an intruder. Hardly ever smiling and conveying all emotion through her expressive eyes alone, Zoë Lund is superb in the lead role and the film gets off to a strong start as she initially takes a semi-rational approach to the double rape. Having killed the second rapist, Lund dismembers the body in a darkly comic manner, carrying it out of her apartment in bits and pieces. These early scenes come with some neat horror touches too, like Lund imagining blood and guts coming up from the drain of her bathtub, and as alluded to, the first half of the movie is quite strong. The second half though pushes the boundaries of both credibility and audience sympathy as Lund goes from accidentally shooting a man who followed her down a dark alleyway, to viciously killing all men who try to pick her up, to going out of her way to seduce and then murder as many men as she can lure. Understandably, she is meant to be psychotic by the end of the film, but she also becomes complete unsympathetic as she starts seducing men just in order to have victims, all the while using the one gun with a seemingly inexhaustible supply of bullets (!); plus, she is a perfect shot every time. The final attack scene that the film builds up to nevertheless needs to be seen for itself and there is something to be said for the film giving the revenge thriller formula a feminist spin.

Thana (Zoë Lund) is a shy mute dressmaker. She is raped at gunpoint on the way home. When she gets home, she is surprised by a robber who also rapes her at gunpoint. She manages to kill the home invader and cut up his body. She turns into a vigilante with the robber's gun. She suffers from the trauma and kills anybody who scares her. She dresses up to lure attackers. Then at the company Halloween party, her boss's advances end in horrors.This is an uneven but compelling violent indie. Some of it can be taken as camp but it works even as a serious movie. It's in the long tradition of using shock and awe to sell a no budget movie. It's interesting that Lund is playing a mute. It probably turned a disadvantage into a compelling advantage. The two rapes can seem like overkill but it actually makes sense to force this shy girl with something outrageous.

The kind of plot that had everything to succeed but falls short of ideas and gives us less than nothing instead. A young mute woman (Zoë Lund) goes on a rampage of murdering men in the streets of New York after being victim sexually assaulted twice in a matter of minutes. At first, her victims are one of her rapists, misandrists, exploiters, pimps and men of whom women wouldn't want to get near but then after being addicted with all those killings she believes all men are evil and decides take down everyone she meets or gives her a cat-call. This is a little better than the exploitation and gigantic waste of celluloid "I Spit on your Grave", because it's real, there's believable situations in this film. But the writer/director wants to leave this woman in the silence, and we're not even able to hear her inner thoughts and sympathize with her is very difficult, specially when she no longer can distinguish bad from good. "Sudden Impact" still remains the only good film with a similar theme but there was a good guy tracking down the female victim who decided to take revenge on her abusers, so Hollywood always messes up when it comes to leave a woman do the revenge by herself, only "Kill Bill" gets away. "Ms. 45" isn't violent as it looks and it's only slightly impressive when she shoots all the guys - but we never know from where she got more and more bullets, and who gave her lessons on how to shoot (the scene in the park where she takes down a whole gang is amazing). And we're forced to bear with plenty of annoyance coming not only from the male chauvinist characters, but also from the main character's intrusive landlady and pretty much who appears in the film, not a single good character - oh yeah, there was one who tried to return her bag but then he got shot. One thing I don't get it: why a gay character (her boss at the shop clothes) is sexually interested on her? Who comes up with these ideas?Here's a B movie poor of ideas and sequences only worthy because of some gorgeous cinematography. The rest? Strange acting, awful music cue whenever a gun is to be fired, a lousy excuse for a movie. Ferrara disappointing again although he gave a style to the movie that follows closely the main character's state of mind, a silent movie for the most scenes reaching terrifying levels with the sound of a .45 in the dark of night. "Death Wish" kind of movie, social commentaries on male's indecent behavior? Please, there's greater movies out there on the same topic. But in the end, here's another wake up call to all the guys who think themselves really big when they're next to women. Watch out, she may have a gun... 5/10
