Clever, believable, and super fun to watch. It totally has replay value.
Exactly the movie you think it is, but not the movie you want it to be.
The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable
Very Nice and Enjoyable Family Fun and a message at the end.... Truly Miss such Chill out family fun movies, we once used to enjoy so much during the 80's and 90's..... But now we hardly witness such good and family fun movies but mainly witness only 3D, action , Science fiction..... Focusing too.much on technology, we have gradually losing the substance in it that made movies so sweet and memorable...... Good Actors and Oh I love the music and songs in the entire movie..... DEFINITELY GO AND WATCH IT.... If you truly miss those Old Golden Family Fun movie day's.... It will definitely take you back there..... ENJOY..... TUMPBS UP IF IT HELPED YOU..... MY MESSAGE TO ALL OF YOU......... " USE TECHNOLOGY ONLY HAS A TOOL, AND NOT HAS A NECESSITY...... AND START TO LIVE YOUR LIFE MORE NATURALLY. "
I didn't plan to write a comment for this movie, because some scenes are illogical and it is just a plain average movie for kids only. Then I watched the extras on the DVD, in which the actor Cody Linley told us that his hair was darker, they had to dye his hair to blond. He was surprised that it was so blond. That is just so wrong, that is the reason why I am writing this comment. This is not a movie about surfers, the character in which Cody plays doesn't surf in the ocean or swim in the pool. So there is absolutely no reason to dye his hair to blond. In that old high school TV series, "Saved by the Bell", they also dyed Mark-Paul Gosselaar's pure dark hair to blond. This is just plain wrong, the movie and TV makers are still trying to sell this idea that blonds are more attractive than people with dark hair, is that the value that they want to teach the kids? This is a country made of immigrants, I can probably safely say that at least over 70% population don't have blond hair. This is just wrong to dye male actors' hair to blond especially for children movies. How often do you see any blond guys in those crime, gangster movies? Then there is this joke about Roy got his fake name from an old Asian man who was mopping the floor, that just reminded me of another point. Asians live in all major cities in the US, how come there is hardly ever any Asian male children actors in any of the TV shows or movies. There were plenty children in this movie, I personally didn't see any Asian or black kids, not even the extras. Why are the leading actors always have to be white? If they want to teach children about saving animals, how about teaching children equality? Why do they always hire white actors? There were several scenes that don't make sense. For example, how was "Mullet Fingers" able to get a boat and drive that boat all the way to the sea? After all, he was supposed to be homeless. It is wrong to teach children that if you want to save the animals, it is OK to violate laws to destroy other people's properties. In reality, if those kids get caught, they will be punished according to the law. Some of the sceneries are beautiful, such as the sunset, the view of the ocean from the sky.
1st watched 10/8/2008 - 4 out of 10(Dir-Will Shriner): So-so environmental movie about a wild child protecting a group of burrowing owls from getting bulldozed by a pancake house trying to break ground for their 100th restaurant. This movie was watchable for awhile but then kind of got high-and-mighty with it's environmentalism and became very predictable about halfway thru. The story revolves around a family moving into a new town in Florida and the son being mesmerized by a barefoot kid running alongside the school bus, obviously not attending school. We find out later he's kind of hiding from his parents so he won't get sent to military school and vandalizing the property where the pancake house is supposed to go in his spare time. There are a couple of side stories like a school bully picking on the new kid, and a bumbling cop, played by Luke Wilson, that has some funny moments. The main story line though revolves around three kids trying to influence a corporation to change their minds about where to place their business. The music, by Jimmy Buffet, doesn't help the movie and is mostly pretty lame -- Buffet actually also appears in a cameo role as a teacher. This is basically it for this movie. I'm sure that it can be enjoyed by some of the younger folk, but there's not enough quality behind it to keep most viewers involved for the whole 1 hour and a half. It probably would have been better as an afternoon kids special than a motion picture.
I just saw the movie today and was pleasantly surprised. I thought the storyline was very creative and well put together. All the character where very relate able you could be the tomboy girl like Beatrice or the normal guy who is just trying to survive a new school and life like Roy or you can be a rebel like mullet fingers. The movie stood out to me cause it was clean but still very enjoyable. Every character added their own element to the story. And this is a must see by everyone. It has that light, that i think everyone will get use of, that makes you want to just do whatever you think is right and fight for your voice. So kids or teenagers, do have voice that is very well deserving of being heard, we might all learn something!!Very creative, story was great, its just a must see hands down!!
