Offspring
The local sheriff of Dead River, Maine, thought he had killed them off ten years ago -- a primitive, cave-dwelling tribe of cannibalistic savages. But somehow the clan survived. To breed. To hunt. To kill and eat. And now the peaceful residents of this isolated town are fighting for their lives...

Great Film overall
best movie i've ever seen.
Tells a fascinating and unsettling true story, and does so well, without pretending to have all the answers.
OFFSPRING is a Z-grade B-movie made entirely without merit or a reason to watch. It's an ultra-cheap slice of gore in which various uninteresting characters are menaced by a clan of Neanderthal-style cannibals who spend the movie cutting up bodies and devouring them. That's all there is to the film so anyone looking for depth, plot twists or an immersive viewing experience is likely to be disappointed. The film was of slight interest at the outset given that it's based on a book by noted author Jack Ketchum with the screenplay also written by him, but the poor execution wastes all that promise. The cast is also uninteresting, with only minor parts for Pollyanna McIntosh (EXAM) as the feral clan leader and poor old Art Hindle (who you may remember from the excellent 1978 version of INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS) playing a guy investigating the murders. There's a lot of cheap gore but that's no reason to tune in either.
Along the coastline in Maine there is a feral pack of mostly teenagers and kids who attack and eventually eat their victims. The group attacks a family and is after the infant thinking its blood is stronger. Two women fight to survive as they are held captive in a cave while the infant is being guarded by his ten year old brother (Kastel). There are attempts at suspense and scares but most of them fall flat. Based on the novel by Jack Ketchum who also wrote this screenplay, Offspring is not a very fun ride as a horror film. It is brutal in parts but in a grueling way. The gore and cruelty is plentiful but the movie is clumsy, dull and pretty forgettable.
"Offspring" is based on Jack Ketchum's sequel to his gruesome novel "Off-Season".It tells the story of a cave-dwelling clan of cannibals who prey for human flesh and babies along the rural Maine coastline.Years after foiling the clan's first rampage veteran cop George Peters suspects a cannibal resurgence after the discovery of a pair of slaughtered corpses. Then the family with a small baby is attacked and the fight for survival begins...Very bloody and faithful adaptation of "Offspring" with the script written by Jack Ketchum. It's loaded with graphic violence and gore including disembowellings, brain removals and even genital chewing. The villains are corny, the torture scene is quite nasty and there is even a small cameo by Jack Ketchum."Offspring" is not as good as "Red" or "The Lost",but it's more gory and violent.8 out of 10.
To say this film is brilliant would probably send shivers through pretentious movie reviewers across the internet. No, its obvious from the very beginning of this film, 'Offspring' is not for everybody. So who is for, you ask... Well the answer is simple - Hardcore Horror fans, B-Movie lovers, & fans of old Exploitation and Smut films from decades past will LOVE 'Offspring'! To those of us who fall into those fore-mentioned categories, yes this one is a brilliant & fun romp in low budget smut land! As most of us smut-lovers know, acting is not a necessary quality when it comes to this type of film and well it shows. However, there is a particular 'offspring' that really conveys the correct dosage of fear through the screen; Pollyanna McIntosh who plays 'The Woman' gives us a genuinely creepy portrayal of the leader of these fictitious flesh eating feral humans.Gore factor is very much in effect and proves to be the centerpiece of 'Offspring'. That's right... plenty of blood, entrails, cannibalism, and gore filled moments to wince to. And don't forget the dead babies in plastic bags, makeshift soda can grills used for chomping skin, 'It's Alive' type baby drinking milk from a grossed out prisoner, and the ultimate 8 year old face off to the death...For all you B-Movie Conniseurs, 'Offspring' is the s**t! You'll laugh, you'll jump, and you will definitely wince!
