I cannot think of one single thing that I would change about this film. The acting is incomparable, the directing deft, and the writing poignantly brilliant.

The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.

The plot: Nazi zombies return to carry out their 70-year old orders -- to destroy a Norwegian town. However, Martin, the hero of the prior film, also returns to protect it.There are some pretty funny scenes in this film. If you have a sick enough sense of humor, you'll probably laugh when these Nazi zombies blow up babies. But there are also a whole lot of scenes that just don't work. I don't know whose idea it was to include a bunch of Americans in the sequel, but it was a bad, bad idea. They're painfully unfunny. There's also a gay character who's more stereotypical than funny. In fact, when Hoel (Martin) or Gamst (Col. Herzog) weren't on the screen, I was a bit bored. But their scenes were great. The humor is pretty dark, and the gore is omnipresent. If you're not into that sort of thing, then you should avoid this film. On the other hand, if you like Evil Dead homages, then you'll probably enjoy this. There's a character who loses his arm, but instead of attaching a chainsaw, he has a zombie arm unwillingly grafted on. I've seen a lot of zombie films, but I've never seen that before. Too bad that there are so many unfunny characters mixed in.

I have to say I was really disappointed with this sequel. I loved the first movie, it was just such a good laugh - the right amount of gore, right amount of silly and right amount of fun. I felt like there was way too much effort to put some 'back story' or detail behind the zombies in the sequel, which just felt ridiculously over the top (and not in a good way) and kinda stupid. I think the reason this film is not as brilliant as the first one is because of the American influence. The three Americans in the film are unbelievably irritating and unfunny. There were a few quite cool bits in the film - mainly some of the more gory scenes...but other than that I did not enjoy the sequel at all. Shame.

Sometimes a movie is so absurdly fun, it can get away with almost anything, Dead Snow 2 is almost that kind of movie. The premise is ridiculous, it involves an army of Nazi zombies running amok in Norway. Focus of this movie hinges entirely of how fun the gore can be, and to its credit, with tongue-in-cheek script it's pretty enjoyable. However, there are a few segments that diminish the amusement, most notably the contrast on dark scenes.Martin had a bad experience, he's awakened Nazi zombies by taking their gold on a snowy mountain. After losing his friends and lover, he manages to escape and finds refuge. Little did he know that the Nazi zombies have a knack to invade people. The acting isn't superior, but the actors do well on producing more comical effect. Characters are few and they are introduced with over-the-top personality quite effectively. The movie knows the genre and its demography well, producing more mayhem and a dash more imagination than most zombie movies. It has good sense of humor, rather dark and a bit desensitizing, although strangely fitting for the concept. It doesn't possesses elegance not does it try to, there's barely any five minutes where blood isn't displayed gloriously. The carnage is made with practical effects, they look convincingly brutal and will please the fans of the genre. Make-up and costume department did their job well as the zombies do look unique. As far as the deaths go, Dead Snow 2 has a few creative ones. Unfortunately, there's a bit of inconsistency in plot where the characters pop-up, survive miraculously or act in very stupid manner. Admittedly, they are minor things since the movie already suspends the viewer disbelief. Its main setback is it's uncomfortably dark when it doesn't need to be. The cinematography is good at outdoor as well as in daylight, however it becomes too blurry at night scenes or those in relatively dark area, which a good portion of the movie occurs at. This inevitably dulls the experience.Dead Snow 2 confidently boasts exaggerated theme with mortifying amount of blood and self-aware humor, and despite having a few faults, it will most likely entertain fans of horror genre.

Despite being a zombie fan, it took me a couple of viewings to appreciate the original 'Dead Snow.' But it grew on me (and now I own it on DVD). I was delighted when I heard a sequel was out and watched it straight away. I have to say I didn't like this one either at first, but, whereas the original took a couple of viewings to 'get,' I started to like its sequel at around the half hour mark. The original Dead Snow was a 'condensed little number.' It was about a group of friends who took a skiing holiday to a remote cabin (hardly original, eh?) where they interrupt a load of Nazi zombies. Naturally, blood and guts follow. So, instead of retreading the original, the film-makers choose to expand the whole story on a bigger picture. We're given more information on the Nazis zombies. Who'd have thought evil undead killers have such a rich and diverse back-story?! But they do! Plus we have a whole new cast of characters on hand to help out the lone survivor of the initial encounter. And the characters are fun. The police on the trail of the undead carnage is pretty inept and quite amusing. Our leftover hero is nicely psychotic and damaged after his previous ordeal, but what makes the film is how the writers have added all sorts of nice new aspects to what could just be another zombie movie. There are so many movies out there like this these days that anything that wants to stand out has to cover new ground. And I'm glad to say this one does. I won't list too many of its original nice touches, but my favourite aspect was how the hero's arm god severed and the hospital had to reattach it. Only they messed up and accidentally stitched on the main zombie's arm, hence unwittingly giving our hero a few new powers of his own.You will need to have a pretty dark sense of humour to watch this. There are so many politically incorrect moments that break conventions. A black sense of humour is a must here. Plus there's a fair bit of action towards the end. Off the top of my head I'd have to say that 'Dead Snow2' contains the longest ongoing climactic battle I've seen in a zombie film. You should be aware that the film is shot in both Norwegian and English, so you'll find you're reading the subtitles one minute, only to realise you're listening to English the next. The only criticisms I have would be that it does feel a little 'all over the place' at times. Sometimes there are so many ideas and characters that things get a little messy and you end up pining for the 'condensed-ness' of the original. Also, the leader of the 'zombie squad' annoyed me a little bit. He seemed to start off as an uber-geek and ended up being tougher than Rambo. But those are just minor gripes. I think Part 2 is a great little number that doesn't detract from the original and has enough things in it that are new to warrant it standing out above many of the B-movie zombie films cluttering up bargain bins full of cheap DVDs you've never heard of.
