Simple and well acted, it has tension enough to knot the stomach.

I really wanted to like this movie. I feel terribly cynical trashing it, and that's why I'm giving it a middling 5. Actually, I'm giving it a 5 because there were some superb performances.

The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful

Exactly the movie you think it is, but not the movie you want it to be.

So I was surprised at this film. I was expecting broader slapstick, and just jokes. But this was a nicely done movie of intersecting stories of five (single) moms & how they deal with life. I think it could have been sharper. It feels a bit languid. Some scenes just drag because they're "heartwarming." But it's got good stuff. And for the most part, the child actors do a very good job with their roles and lines. Some parts that I had to suspend disbelief: * Even a waitstaff at a coffee shop can afford private school for her kid * Everyone lives in a ginormous house with lots of stuff, furniture, knick-knacks--and no one seems to be cleaning these ginormous houses even though they must deal with jobs and kids and single-mom-ness. Yeah, it's a film, but still--it's a lot of stuff to have to take care of.OK, and the outtakes were pretty darn funny. "You can have gluten today."

One of the messages this film was trying to send was the similarity between all single moms, no matter of their situation of how they got to be single moms. It emphasized the power of learning and supporting each other as being a single parent is a difficult and challenging task.Though the film was not the greatest with regards to really keeping you captivated, it allowed you to connect with the characters and sympathize or empathize with each of their situations. Movies like this remind you to appreciate everyone because you don't know what situation they are in and what roads they've traveled on. We've all got a story. We've all got scars and whether some are hidden or quite visible, they all contribute to the people we are and the people we grow to become.

This movie was awful. They all talk about the single moms club but they repeatedly complain about the men paying their alimony, child support and talk about getting new men and fixing each other up. A TRUE single mother is one that has no father - no alimony, no child support and the father is gone. As in passed away, in jail or otherwise absent. Not a man who wants to co-parent and contributes financially. These women needed a MAN to help them build their sets for the kids play. This is horrible. It is an insult to REAL single mothers (widows) who have no option to fight and fuss with an ex. How about they do a story about the war widows who are REAL single mothers. Pathetic movie. The only reason I rated a "1" is because there was no option for anything less.

I thought this would be a good film, due to the cast but like many of Tyler Perry films, this fell completely flat. This film lacked any true character developments and emotions.Like all of his other films, it has so many clichés and points out obvious issues as a joke.It has a lot of stereotypes; from rich white women who can't manage their kids, poor black women that cant get a break but has to stay strong for all her kids while living in poverty, working women that are struggling both juggling their jobs and kids and of course the single mom not looking for love but finds it.This movie is so hard to watch. It seems like everything in this film is forced from the awkward flat jokes to the wannabe heart-felt moments. It seems the more movies Tyler Perry makes, the less realistic and forced they become.Maybe if this was under better direction, like all his other films needed(except Madea films, there was no help for those)these would have been great movies.
