Madea Goes to Jail
After a high-speed car chase, Madea winds up behind bars because her quick temper gets the best of her. Meanwhile, Assistant District Attorney Josh Hardaway lands a case that's too personal to handle: that of a young prostitute and former drug addict named Candace. I love this movie so much
The storyline feels a little thin and moth-eaten in parts but this sequel is plenty of fun.
Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.
It is a whirlwind of delight --- attractive actors, stunning couture, spectacular sets and outrageous parties. It's a feast for the eyes. But what really makes this dramedy work is the acting.
I only liked the Madea parts. The other parts, I didnt like them. I didn't like when that dude hit that woman and I didn't like when that dude was humiliating that girl. If the movie would have been all about Madea, it would have been way better.
I just wanted to watch this one day. I liked some of Tyler Perry's projects with Madea (nah, just the Madea Christmas Play) and decided to see this. And oh this sucksur. This tried to make a cliched "help people from the underground out of trouble." Alright, first the dude married to the evil lady is the only good actor. He put emotion into this meaningless project. Let me explain why.Madea. Why is this character even here? I'll admit, I laughed at times, but she was completely unnecessary. This wasn't supposed to be Madea's story, it was supposed to be the poor girl's. It made another subplot to make her go to jail, but it had no payoff. The payoff was for them to go to jail. What? Why did they have to go to jail? So useless in many ways. The girl didn't have to go to jail and Madea had no time to bond with her in prison.Super cliched, mediocre to bad comedy, terrible acting mostly, no reason to be in jail and it's the main title but takes up the minority of the time.
I hadn't seen any of Tyler Perry's films before this one because I don't find drag comedy appealing. I didn't expect this to be a great film, but it was much worse than I could have imagined. The main reason is Madea herself. Madea is a rude, hostile, Ghetto cliché of a woman who as the opening credits demonstrated, has spent most of her adult life in and out of jail for various offenses caused by her inability to control her anger and need for revenge. After one particular incident the elderly behemoth must finally endure the consequences and serve time. Although this did not happen until about one hour into the film, I applauded because Madea is clueless to how bad her behavior is that even a trained professional like Dr. Phil couldn't get through to her. She needed to learn that she is not above the law as a sort of comeuppance.Another reason this film was so bad was that it would frequently shift to a secondary storyline which had nothing to do with Madea. It was something of a "Pretty Woman" premise involving a legal clerk trying to rescue a childhood friend from drugs and prostitution. Every time this happened, it was like somebody getting a remote control and changing the channel. The ending does show a common thread for these story lines but it's not enough to save this train wreck of a film. After watching Madea, I can't understand why people enjoy Tyler Perry films so much. The Ghetto factor may be the main reason people line up and pay good money to see this garbage. If that's the case, it's very sad that this is what 21st century America considers entertainment. I would have given this a minus rating if IMDb allowed it.
I loved this movie. I have watched several other movies of Tyler Perry, and they have all been great comedy. This one was a little different with a little bit different twist, and for one of the many (hopefully), I got the meaning of the movie. Granted, it was hilarious to the point that I was laughing out loud. However, the melodrama was happy medium. This movie is just like real life if you look at it from that prospective. Laugh should be and for some really is a lot of funniness, but the reality is that "Life" happens and you will have much more melodrama than you will laughter. For Tyler Perry and this movie, he just simply swapped it around and involved more laughter than melodrama. The unlikelihood that you will learn a true lesson about life in this movie; you must really be intuned into the movie in order to get it. I took away from the movie this: "Life will be a mixture of both laughter and pain. However just like the movie said, you only have one life and it is only up to us individually how we spend it. As far as Forgiveness, it takes a strong person to forgive themselves for their own faults and mistakes and to start fresh in life no matter their age or gender. The laughter helps you remember the happy moments in your own life, and the melodrama helps you remember that the melodrama, although not easy to deal with, is necessary to learn anything out of what happens in our lives by the choices whether simply or huge that we individually make." For the record, I am not a professional writer. I am a single Mother of three who has seen the good and more so the bad in Life and choose not to let the bad rule my life. How about you?
