This is a tender, generous movie that likes its characters and presents them as real people, full of flaws and strengths.
Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.
At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.
It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.
Even Jeopardy viewers would realize that this film has little basis in reality. While I'm not exactly a scholar concerning Churchill or English WW2 history, I certainly know that he wasn't the raving lunatic as portrayed here.If the answer is "Churchill" then phrased in the form of a question, the reply would be, "What do the producers have little concern for?"Melodramatic, shmaltzy, and decent enough in some places, my concern is that many of today's younger viewers might actually believe that this is how it was....but without zombies.
Had to give one star and hate the movie. Since glorifying the second Hitler is not a good thing. Hitler on the one side lost, But the Hitler on the other side won.
TERRIBLE movie. Pedantic. Focuses on the idea that Winston suffered from depression. All Churchill does is complain here. All his wife does is bitch at him. My favorite character was General Eisenhower, and this movie isn't even about him. Do yourself a favor and ignore this rotten film.
Gonna give this a perfect score just to piss off all the Churchill fanbois. Apparently they didn't like how their dear leader is portrayed in this movie. Well, sucks for them.10/10 would recommend watching this with your Tory-voting friend. Peace out.
