Instead, you get a movie that's enjoyable enough, but leaves you feeling like it could have been much, much more.
Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.
Funny, strange, confrontational and subversive, this is one of the most interesting experiences you'll have at the cinema this year.
The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful
The first time I wanted to watch this movie I ended up watching Empire instead. I knew this wasn't going to be a good movie anyway so the reprieve was good.Cue the night I want to watch this movie and see just how bad this thing is. Well, Vivica Fox plays Felicia and every time I see her I want to say "Bye Felicia". Jerry played by Cuba Gooding Jr is a happy go lucky kind of guy who's in love with Felicia, who dumps him. Hector, Jerry's best friend is a womanizer and stereotypical male chauvinist . He disrespects a travel agent whose boss (and boyfriend) puts them on a gay cruise. These guys are slow on the uptake as it looks like someone grabbed everyone dressed outrageously at Gay Pride showed up on that Cruise So Jerry finds the one woman on the cruise, likes her (she is a dance instructor) and a flare Hector gets a hold of downs a helicopter of a bunch of gorgeous bikini models. The farce continues as they pretend to be gay and experience that all gay guys aren't bad...yet the stereotypes inherent in this movie are stifling as I don't know many gay men like any on that boat...I guess that's what it was supposed to be...so exaggerated it was unreal As it moves along, Felicia goes to the island where the boat is, and catches Jerry in a drag dance to "I'm coming out" So as all of it sorts out, it's a happy ending for all involved...except the viewer Terrible movie, I can't believe I wanted to see it, but I asked for it...
'Boat Trip' is a sometimes funny movie filled with extremely vulgar moments that will make you cringe and probably giggle. It's an hour and a half of gross out humor, stereotypes of homosexuals, and entertainment.Nothing more, nothing less. The premise revolves around two best friends who try to go on a cruise so one of them will forget the fact that he just got dumped. After one of them insults a man, he books them on a cruise that they will never forget. He sets them on a gay cruise! I would not want to be one of those guys.I find 'Boat Trip' to be an extremely underrated comedy. The low rating on IMDb (which happens to be a 4.6) is just ridiculous.Come on people, this is a funny movie with a very interesting premise and even one of the guys who played James Bond plays a gay man on the ship. How could you not find Roger Moore playing a gay guy funny or at least something that sounds interesting.Maybe I'm just losing my touch with the outside world.Or maybe it's the people who don't like this movie who simply don't understand how to enjoy movies like 'Boat Trip'.It may not be Oscar worthy, but it certainly doesn't deserve a golden razz berry award for worst film.
Film24 broadcast this film last night and the synopsis gave the impression that it was going to be a "Birdcage" afloat. I have never felt so moved as to write a review and was heartened to see that most other reviewers thought this was an appalling film.I switched off just before the part where the sidekick mistakenly hops into bed with the trainer, thank goodness by all accounts as another reviewer describes the remainder of the scene and it was even worse that I suspected it would be. With hindsight, I cannot believe I watched for 45 minutes.OK, so I'm neither teenage of male so perhaps I shouldn't have been watching this in the first place but really there is absolutely nothing to redeem this film in any way that could not be otherwise fulfilled by the sort of film that doesn't have a script at all.I really must remember to read IMDb BEFORE I watch films in the future.
Okay people, i read so many mixed reactions about this one, that I literally tip toed to watch it. My friend Evan hated, and said it was worse than Dogville, but my Dad said it was great. And i am a big Horatio Sanz fan, but who isn't?!... so I ventured.I loved it! Don't let the liberal media fool you, Academy Award winner Cuba Gooding Jr. is a great comedian and scholar, and he manages to cruise this moving picture with grace and gusto. There are some darker, gross out moments, but they serve the story (just like the gross out moments in any Cronenberg or Bela Tarr films). Vanessa Williams (Ugly Betty) is great as the b***h, but her character is well developed and goes well beyond clichés.Till next time.
