Truly Dreadful Film
Admirable film.
I wanted to like it more than I actually did... But much of the humor totally escaped me and I walked out only mildly impressed.
Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.
Did you ever come across a movie that you have had for years and yet have never watched? Maybe something you picked up in a bargain bin once and can't even remember why? OK folks – who's with me here? Anyway, that's the category that PATHOLOGY falls into for me. I think I picked it up just to see Alyssa Milano in something other than WHO'S THE BOSS. Her ten minutes of screen time here is mostly just for eye candy, which she actually provides well enough. The rest of the film is a bunch of forgettable actors playing one- dimensional characters, in this case resident doctors in pathology who are involved in a murder game. The idea is to kill people in creative and undetectable ways while the others try to figure out how it was done. When the obligatory new guy is introduced to the group, it is amazing to see him struggle with the morality of cold- blooded murder for all of ten minutes before deciding to join in. Throw in crack pipes and the now almost obligatory lesbianism and bisexualism, and you have yourself a movie! That being said - the production values are high, the actors are competent with the material they have, and there is even a plot twist that I did not see coming. If the purpose of a film is to entertain, than this one accomplishes that goal, albeit barely. It chugs along at a good speed before you really have time to consider the gaping plot holes. I probably would never watch it again, but it held my interest for 90 odd minutes.
This movie was absolutely pathetic! and i hated it!.This movie is extremely flawed and extremely stupid and it was sick!. This film has so many problems and the main one is the story, this film has no story or not much of one and the second problem is the characters, there was not one single likable character in this whole film!.every character in this film was sick and very immature and very weird, and how i managed to sit through this whole disgusting mess of a film i don't know!. I don't think i have seen a film this bad since (Smiley) and i must say this film is equally as bad as that one was!. This film completely blew my brain cells! or what was left of them!. I'm surprised i still had a brain after watching this film. The film is about a bunch of people that work in a morgue and the main character who is supposed to be the good guy turns into a psycho at the click of a finger which makes no sense at all.how can he be okay one day and then crazy the next?.I have Absouloutly No idea. This film was not scary or entertaining it was just sick and very unpleasant and whoever made this film needs their head examined and fast!.some how the Doctors in this film managed to kill a bunch of people at a hospital without anyone noticing and for some reason their seemed to be no security cameras at the hospital anywhere which was rather "conviniant" and some how the main character ended up working for the psycho doctors which made no sense and its never really explained. All the doctors did was buy him a drink and all of a sudden he's best friends with them! even though he knows they're dangerous, and why the guy never went to the police the moment he suspected they were sick people i have no idea?.maybe he liked them and didn't want to turn them in but that doesn't make sense either because why would he like a bunch of sick freaks that talk about killing people?.I don't know and i don't care. this film has so many problems and the list goes on and on! and on!. the only character in the film that was okay was the main characters wife and even she isn't given much to do, her role was very small and it was almost pointless for her to be in the film because she is killed off in the end anyway which could have been avoided if her Moron of a husband hadn't of brought her to town in the first place!. why the hell would the main character bring her to town when he knows she'll be in danger there?. the main character knows his work colleagues are deranged people and yet he brings his wife to meet them!.why did he do that? i have No idea. why didn't he tell his wife his work colleagues were dangerous i have No idea?.how could he have not known that the psycho red head would only get jealous if she saw his wife? Once again i have No idea. the man either did not care or he was just Dumb!.this film has problem after problem after problem. poor story check! poor characters check! poor writing check! and a poor pathetic ending check!. i did not care about a single person in this film except Alyssa Milano, she was the only good thing about the whole film! but even her appearance could not save this film from being abysmal!. every other character in the film was very sick and hateful and there was no character development and a lack of motivation for what the Doctors did.maybe they enjoyed killing people or maybe they just didn't know right from wrong i don't know and i don't care anymore. To sum things up this is a very sick film that lacks suspense and tension and how this film got a rating of 5.8 i have no idea!. This film was trash! and it doesn't even deserve a 3.0 let alone a 5.8!. This is one of the worst films i've ever seen! and everyone should Avoid this!.
There is no reason for this film to exist. No logical reason for it to have been made. Money? It grossed $108,662 -- with an 8 million dollar budget. A mega-flop.Did someone actually think people would want to see this?"An ugly film about ugly people doing ugly things" is how one critic described it. That pretty much sums it up!Again, the question is, why? Why was it made? Why would Lakeshore Entertainment -- who I once thought of as somewhat respectable -- pour 8 million bucks into this? Did they really think there were people out there who get into watching corpses being cut apart and cracked open and played with... body pieces and organs being thrown around like gruesome toys, like it's all supposed to be some big goddamn joke? And don't even get me started on the shots on the guy's ass in the first sex scene. I'm all out of vomit bags. They would have loved this at Auschwitz. Probably one of Jeffrey Dahmer's faves. Manson? Probably too gross for him.If this is what cinema has come to after 100 years, all I can say is I want out. Get me the hell out of the madhouse. Get me back to porn, to normalcy, to some decent entertainment that doesn't make me puke... This was worse than a snuff film, way worse. It makes me ashamed to be in the film business. Ashamed to be a human being. Ashamed to be alive.Nice music and photography, though! Just shows you how important those things are to the success of a film.Zero stars. Hopefully the jerk who made this will be dead soon. And boy, how I hope they toss his organs around the room!
This disturbed and disturbing horror/thriller suggests that a group of young pathologists make a game out of taking turns to kill individuals who are unlikely to be missed, using elaborate methods which their fellow pathologists then have to work out. Once internal rivalries and sexual jealousy come into play, things start to get nasty between the participants. This film is quite graphic in terms of post mortems, although by far the most chilling sequence is when protagonist Milo Ventimiglia carries out an autopsy on his dead fiancée with complete emotional detachment. However, this may simply be Ventimiglia's one-note performance. There is some fairly raunchy sex for a mainstream film, and a powerful end, albeit no moral resolution whatsoever - none of the main characters in this film is morally sympathetic.
