A story that's too fascinating to pass by...
The acting in this movie is really good.
An achievement if you will that has surpassed the likes of 'Rings' and 'Pompeii'. The worst of the worst. I have literally just wasted 89 minutes of my life watching a serial killer stab countless students and hotel employees with no one battering an eyelid. I'm not even going to describe the plot to you, you all deserve better. Typical slasher plagued with uninventive deaths, bad acting, dull dialogue, no characterisation, lack of backstory and piercing cheesy American pop songs that you would find in a teen flick from the early 00s. The only positive aspect to this whole diabolical mess is Idris Elba, who tried his best. But hey, even great actors have to start somewhere. The story is literally pointless. A creepy stalker who creepily stalks a girl whilst wearing creepy attire that shows off his creepy stalker personality is creepily waltzing around a hotel killing everyone, just because he wants to stalk a girl. That is literally it. There is nothing else to this. It's like eating a jam doughnut and realising that you've got no jam in your doughnut. Are you disappointed? Yes. Did you waste your time hoping to taste that sweet juicy jam? Why yes, you did. The killer hides his victims in various hotel suites, to which a detective casually walks along and then BAM a body flings out randomly to create a jump scare. If that's not scary enough, then you'll be "frightened" multiple times by the repetitive use of characters walking backwards only to trip on something or knock into someone which consequently somehow creates a loud noise or scream. There's more suspense in the hotel beds than the plot itself! The conclusion then arrives and...well...it ends. Literally bang bang, hugs and tears and then the credits roll. The pointlessness of the film meant that its conclusion amounted to nothing, it couldn't even end properly. I endured this savagery, this uninspired piece of rubbish, just for it to end abruptly. I'm done. This film has ended my existence. I cannot be saved, there is no going back. Goodbye.
Prom night the remake just isn't that great of a movie. The acting is pretty wooden and phoned in. The writing and script is run of the mill and horribly cliché. There were some entertaining moments, some of the kills were kinda thrilling and some of the action/running sequences were fun and had a little adrenaline. But the overall plot was just so cliché and been there done that that it was kinda hard to overlook. Brittany snow (John Tucker must die) was enjoyable as the lead, and Kellan Lutz (Twilight) is alright I suppose, the rest of the cast are just cardboard cut out characters that fall flat. The violence wasn't too graphic or gory, it was PG-13 level goriness, which was good, I thought an R rating would've been too much considering teens are the target audience for this remake. 4/10 for the 2008 remake of prom night.
I saw this movie by myself and though my friends had said it want scary and was boring, I however thought the movie was good! The teacher DEFINITELY freaked me out every tine he was gonna kill somebody. He was very creepy and, dare I say, creepy and crazy! Donna and everyone else were innocent victims in the whole ordeal and I was actually shocked every time he killed someone. I was especially shocked when he killed the boys but I understand, in the teachers twisted mind, that ANYONE in the way between him and Donna would have to go. I can't believe people said that some people said the movie was not scary because I was almost scared when, at the beginning of the movie, when Donna remembers finding her ENTIRE family dead because of the teacher, I was almost scared and creeped out SOOOOOOOOOOOOO bad!! When one of the detectives is detectives about Donna's case with her past teacher and her family, it's scary HOW infatuated he was with Donna and what lengths he would go to to be with her!! You would think that he would have somewhat of a mind to understand what a restraining order is and how to live by the rules but NO!!! Keeps going, gets locked behind bars, sent away to the looney bin; hopefully that would say something like: "hey, I might be crazy but I can fix it if I work at it." but, he doesn't and gets the punishment he deserves. Anyway, the movie was good, scary, shocking, and having me wonder if my teachers in high school ever had a crush or infatuation with me..........
Honestly, I don't know what a lot of people are talking about. The acting is pretty good to me and there are a decent amount of horror scenes that make you jump up. I guess there's not as much gore as I'd expect it but the little amount of gore that they had in this movie was very well done and it looked pretty real unlike some other horror movies these days that go way over the top with orange and pink blood. I love horror movies myself but I'm not picky if there's a little extra something in a horror movie. For instance, I think the problem with this movie is that it is claimed to be a horror movie but actually there are the same amount of drama scenes and action scenes. Not to mention that there seemed to be a lot more suspense scenes than horror scenes. Overall, I really enjoyed the movie and I really think that the acting on the actors starring in this movie was well done.
