This movie is the proof that the world is becoming a sick and dumb place
One of the best movies of the year! Incredible from the beginning to the end.
This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.
The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one
People often talk about how poor sequels are in comparison to the originals, but with Scream that is far from the case, the original in my eyes is a classic, it helped redefine the Slasher movie, return it to the fore front of cinema for several years. Scream 2 in some ways is better then the first, the script is a little tighter, it's not afraid to have a cheeky laugh at its own expense, the killings are perhaps bigger and bolder, and they find a way to shut Sarah Michelle Gellar up, who could ask for more. Some of the cinematography is excellent, it's a very good looking film. I think Neve Campbell's stage dance is one of the film's best moments, it works on so many levels, menace and confusion, it is very nicely done, similar to those great moments in the opening sequences at the cinema too, we as an audience are allowed to see what's going on in the midst of the noise and distraction. It loses points for making Dewey a complete and utter idiot, every time I watch this now I can only see his character from Scary movie, but there's little difference between the two. The killer(s) certainly comes as a surprise.A very good Slasher movie.
Scream 2 is the awesome horror sequel sequel to Scream. The film yet again follows Sidney being stalked by the new Ghostface. Scream 2 has the same feel to Scream, the film has a great amount of deaths and intense scares,Neve Campbell,David Arquette and Courtney Cox all do awesome jobs as there usual roles Jerry O'Connell also appears in this and does an awesome job as Derek,Sidney's new boyfriend, the film has a few flaws though, some of the actors are quite boring like Elise Neal and Jada Pinkett Smith, but,Scream 2 manages to escape your usual bad sequel
Immediately after the hype surrounding Scream (1996) and the start of a new horror genre it was clear that part 2 was on it's way as soon as possible. Again directed by Wes Craven it should be another hit.Not that it was that bad but some scene's took too long (espescially towards the end) and the plot like in the original one wasn't anywhere to spot. But it is still worth picking up but not that gory as the original one. What was nice is that all characters were back with their original thespians and that did add something towards the belief in the story. Another success it became and the franchise was started. For me it's still okay but not a masterpiece like the 1996 flick. If you look to other flicks that came out picking in on the Scream success then this is a better one then the others.Gore 1/5 Nudity 0/5 Effects 3/5 Story 2,5/5 Comedy 0/5
Scream 2 (1997): Dir: Wes Craven / Cast: Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, David Arquette, Jamie Kennedy, Sarah Michelle Gellar: Nowhere near as interesting as Scream. It is basically the standard horror sequel with a conclusion presented upon the most moronic intelligence. Two college students are murdered at the premier of "Stab", which is based on the murders of the first movie. Routine hack and slash concealing the killer's identity. Jamie Kennedy pauses to deliver the rules of sequels. "There is a much bigger body count," he confides. Anyone who has had the misfortune of sitting through Friday the 13th, Part 5: A New Beginning or Sleepaway Camp 3: Teenage Wasteland will know that this isn't necessarily a good thing. Director Wes Craven is great at making everyone look guilty but he is actually making the same film. Neve Campbell returns as Sydney who is now in college and pretty much runs the same drill as before including a shocking revelation in the end. Courtney Cox returns as reporter Gale Weathers who gets punched in the face by Sidney again. David Arquette returns as officer Riley who gets injured again. Kennedy spells out the rules of sequels before making a quick exit. Sarah Michelle Gellar makes a wasted appearance after being in the superior I Know What You Did Last Summer. The purpose is to examine horror sequel reputations , which present a higher body count in graphic detail. Score: 3 / 10
