If you don't like this, we can't be friends.
It was OK. I don't see why everyone loves it so much. It wasn't very smart or deep or well-directed.
By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.
Blistering performances.
The complex plot and poetic dialogue demand a lot from the cast and audience alike. All aspiring actors should be forced to be watch this film at drama school as it contains the full spectrum of emotions that they would be expected to convey throughout their career, such as happiness, sadness and being in love. Particular highlights include the 'drunk scene' where it is clear the actress had spent time with drunk people, in order to ensure she gave a realistic performance. It is this kind of method acting and attention to detail, that really make this film stand out. Being British, it was great to learn some more about the Hispanic community in the USA. Such was the sensitive portrayal of Mexicans in this film, that I have since cancelled my holiday to Mexico. This film gives such a rich account of the complexities of Mexican culture, that I don't think that a trip there would add anything extra. In short, if you're looking for a sassy, poignant, funny and unpredictable film, then this is the one for you! Jane Austen would be proud to see her name in the credits!
After a day of packing we decided to settle in and watch a movie before calling it a night. I'd like to give this movie only one star, but I did sit through the entire thing, after all. Aside from the horrible acting from the two main characters, the only thing that stood out to me were the horrible spray tans the two girls had. I've seen pictures of both of these actresses without a spray tan and they are both quite beautiful when they are not orange. It was just odd. It was nice seeing "Fez" again...he's come a long way since his days on That 70s Show :) Man...ten lines of text? OK...what else can I say? The movie was just not very good.
I thought it was one of the cutest romances I have seen. I even teared up a couple times. If you don't like romance or reality this isn't for you. I fall asleep during most movies and didn't nod off even once during this. It is very sweet. I would definitely recommend to friends and I am sure I will watch it again.I thought it was one of the cutest romances I have seen. I even teared up a couple times. I rarely come on IMDb to review movies but after watching this and seeing the poor ratings for this film, I just had to say something. Like the previous reviewer has said, don't let the ratings fool you, if you know what this film is about and do plan on seeing this then except nothing more than a great watch from beginning to end.The film takes on the subject of spoiled girls living in wealthy-LA and then losing it all and going to live with their relatives on the less "fortunate" side. The Mexican stereotype is kind of overly used, but you start to see they are just a friendly normal neighborhood. The actors played their parts wonderfully, my personal favorite Camilla Belle did superb. This film inst recommended for everyone but I know most will love it by the time they reach the credits.
