Absolutely Fantastic
This story has more twists and turns than a second-rate soap opera.
A story that's too fascinating to pass by...
While it is a pity that the story wasn't told with more visual finesse, this is trivial compared to our real-world problems. It takes a good movie to put that into perspective.
I found this movie very interesting and fun and i love Nikki Reed in this. It had me glued from start to finish. Very good performance from all characters. It made me laugh and shocked me a little also. I didn't think i was going to like it but surprisingly it was a really good movie. I would definitely recommend it if you like dark comedy.
When I watched this film I got stricken with a horrible feeling. I was trying to figure it out what it was then it dawned on me; it was not the movie but rather the fact that, despite being just a movie, one is reminded about how it really is in America. The women here are just as portrayed in this flick. Though they may not act out what they really want to do, don't fool yourself. They think just as these characters and this is what's disturbing most. The men, equally likewise; they are desperate women firster douchebags who will do anything for a whiff of snatch, including being duped by the scams females play. There really is no innocence in this country today.
what a powerhouse of a movie. this one has a lot of racy stuff. a well of rich-guy Alec Baldwin is married to Carrie Ann Moss who constantly finds herself with a bottle and a bunch of pills, partying all the time, he is a lawyer in his firm, Nikki Reed plays Mini, a sexy young teen girl in High School who thinks she's got to have it all. Jeff Goldblum is their busybody neighbor, and Luke Wilson plays the detective hot on the trail of murder. the sequence of events goes by pretty quick so this is a movie where you really got to pay attention to every detail. the daughter feels neglected i guess and decides to turn tricks at the local escort agency,, at first she gets a client who is so remorseful he cries in her lap,, so she requests customers who actually have no regrets and want to do her,, so next client comes in ,, guess what,, it's her stepfather,, no he has no idea it's her at all,, she sees him,, makes him turn out the lights, and does a southern drawl to throw him off,, only after they get to the parking garage do the finally see each other,, she tells him,, oh you were so great.. yeah this is twisted. must see TV........
This movie looks good. As slick as a commercial. The language and dialogue is no-nonsense and cool. It has good actors and good acting. BUT! For a plot to work, it must grasp us. We must have a character trying to obtain something, and overcoming challenges to obtain it.But in this movie, the main character wants one thing only: to try new and daring things. So she decides to kill her mother. Now, if she had trouble doing this, things would get interesting. Then her objective of "trying new and daring things" would be challenged. But, unfortunately, she has no trouble whatsoever. She kills her mother just like that.In the second part of the movie, you could say that her objective is "getting away with murder". Here she actually experiences some trouble. A police detective is a little too curious about the mother's "suicide".But from her own gloating and care-free narrative and from the opening scenes, we're already pretty sure she'll get away with it. So why should we care? What makes us care even less is that most of the characters are really unappealing (but gentle on the eyes) and very two-dimensional.All in all, a great lesson in how NOT to make a movie, but to its credit, it looks good, and I liked the score.
