Many a sequel have come and gone with films and this one is no different. Picking up with similar cast members (Tony Todd) (Kane Hodder) but changing the lead from the first film as Mary Beth is Danielle Harris (Halloween II, Halloween 4 and 5). The film resumes right where the last one left off with Mary Beth being the only survivor. She makes it back to town and tells her story to Reverend Zombie (Todd) and together they grab a bunch of hunters to go and get the remains of Crowleys victims and her family. More of the same plot, dry but constant, dreadful acting and the editing was just horrid. The violence and gore factor was raised some in this one, from severed heads, split faces, ripped out spines it has it's squeamish factor. GAIN I HAVE TO RATE THIS A MODEST 5/10

I liked the first film! I thought it was pretty good! This one was pretty good too! Although there were a few things which I didn'tNow this one picks up from where the last one left off. Though it doesn't explain what happen to Ben! Did he die? Did he live? Not explained! Though if I were to take a wild guess I'd say the killed him off! Making the last Hatchet a typical Female Soul Survivor film! Ugh! Typical! Just plain sexiest! Anyways the plot for Hatchet 2 is Marybeth wants vengeance for what happened to her family as well as wanting to retrieve the bodies of family to be buried in her home town! Aside from the gore & bloody scenes, this film has quite a few revelation adaptions to the original Hatchet! Such as:The added if not deeper adaption of the events prior to Victor Crowley being born.One of the teens who set the cabin on fire was Marybeth's father (hence why at the beginning of the film, the filthy fisherman who saved Marybeth, abruptly asked her to leave at gun point!) Not to mention that the other 2 teens responsible were Marybeth's Uncle Bob & a friend of there's by the name of Tent.Tony Todd is in this film again as the reverend! He helps Marybeth, who seeks his help & gathers a bunch of hunters together to get the tour boat which never came back in the first film! He offers them $5000 if anyone captures Victor Crowley's head & retrieves the missing tour boat! There are many others which I won't give away, but are very interesting & keep you guessing throughout the film!The gore in this film was top notch as well as the violence! The vicious deaths like the head through the boat fan, the belt sander on the guys head & the death scenes with Victors getting his entire face caved in!!The Characters in the film were alright. VERY few were in the film though!Story-Line wise, was OK, straight forward, just like the first!Now, onto the things I didn't like:The first death scene was sloppy! The intestines of the fisherman were bone dry! Really! They were not even wet let alone blood covered when Victor ripped them out of his stomach (which by the way took little effort)! He then uses the intestines to strangle & decapitate the fisherman! A little far fetched but not as bad as the colour of the blood splatter which was too red for my liking!The replacement of Marybeth! A VERY bad move! Why!? Who do it? There's no need to do so! Unless there was a valid reason behind it! But really one of the things I dislike, which made me not want to watch Death Race 2 when Jason Statham got replaced!The death scenes were abit too comical & jokey to be taken seriously! Although they were bloody & vicious! It wasn't working for me! Comedy & Horror DON'T mix! Unless it's dark & less humorous! The part when Victor emerges from the bush with a massive if not stupid sized Chainsaw! Come on! Really!? Reminded me of the time I seen the trailer for Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre III! The ending was great too, though it would seem Victor wasn't dead! The part when Marybeth yells "F*#K YOU!!" Before blasting the shotgun into Victor's face before the screen cuts to black! Awesome ending!To be honest, it was a great film! It was very bloody & vicious! Just the way I like it! But had a few things which didn't make it so good!Overall I say an 8/10! It's worth a watch!

Adam Green delivers more of the same with his deliriously sadistic sequel to his "throwback" horror hit of 2007. Dedicated followers of the horror genre will take delight in some of the casting and in the admittedly hilarious over the top gore gags, but in truth there's not that much going on here. The movie is fun, but quite forgettable. The humour is hit and miss; sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Green doesn't do too much establishing of the environment here, instead focusing on pace, action, and making the audience howl and clap in appreciation.He brings back his character Marybeth (iconic horror hottie Danielle Harris inherits the role from Tamara Feldman) who's survived the rampage of Victor Crowley (Kane Hodder) and made it back to civilization, where she confronts slimy businessman Reverend Zombie (Tony Todd) about what she's learned is a connection between her and old Vic. She then ventures back into the swamp to try to put an end to Vics' days, and Zombie agrees to go along (albeit for his own reasons), in the company of a group of heavily armed, but not too bright, hunters who were bought off pretty cheap. Also tagging along is Marybeths' concerned uncle Bob (Tom Holland, the director of "Fright Night" and "Child's Play", in a good-sized acting role).The mindless violence in this movie *is* quite entertaining, although the viewer will have to sit through a fair amount of set-up and introduction to some less than completely interesting characters. Filling out the cast with familiar faces from the genre is not exactly a fresh gimmick, but horror fans may be still attracted to seeing them all here. Harris is appealing, as always, Todd gets a lot to do this time (he was wasted in a cameo role the first time around) and is a total hoot, and Holland is rather good (buffs will know that he began his career as an actor). Also appearing are Parry Shen (returning from the first movie, but playing a different role), R.A. Mihailoff, and AJ Bowen, with director John Carl Buechler reprising his part as area local Jack Cracker.If you enjoyed "Hatchet" no. 1, chances are you'll have a fairly good time with part 2. At least it's not pretending to be more than it is, a goofy horror comedy that delivers blood by the bucketful.Seven out of 10.

I'd say the first half of Hatchet 2 is a bit sillier and even campier than the first, but the films last half-hour really makes up for it.THis is one seriously gory flick. It's gorier than the original, and funnier than the original. It might actually be better than the original, but it's an awfully tight race.Adam Green still has me on the edge of my seat waiting for his next horror project. Guess I'll have to wait for the DVD release of Hatchet 3 next month - even though he didn't direct.Hatchet 2 is a little better than the original on the acting/cast front as well. In the original we see a bunch of undeveloped boobs getting knocked-off left and right. Here, there's a little more substance to who's getting their heads ripped off.This thing gets pretty intense down the stretch. Thumbs up.
