Very interesting film. Was caught on the premise when seeing the trailer but unsure as to what the outcome would be for the showing. As it turns out, it was a very good film.

While it is a pity that the story wasn't told with more visual finesse, this is trivial compared to our real-world problems. It takes a good movie to put that into perspective.

Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.

"Cockneys vs. Zombies" (2012) began with such promise — with cool, funny characters; capable comedic actors; an attempt at a decent story; and dry, witty British dialogue. It looked like it could be a cool unauthorized companion film to "Shaun of the Dead" (2004).Sadly, then, it didn't pan out. The offbeat, character-driven banter gave way to a lot of slapstick that didn't really work for me. And problems with pacing and tension prevented this from being an effective horror film.I'd give this a 4 out of 10. Oh well.I have two questions after this film about British slang, with which I try to stay current. (What can I say? Some great horror movies come out of Britain. I love it when Frank tells the crow in "28 Days Later" to "get out of it.")1) When someone gets mad at another, they call him a … mop-head? Moppet? Muppet? They always say that word so fast.2) If somebody says something stupid, you call them a "plum?"

If you haven't seen that many zombie films, you might enjoy this film. If have seen loads of zombie films like me, you might think it's either okay or just hate it.It doesn't hold a candle to Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead, Braindead, Shaun of the Dead or 28 Days Later, it's just your average zombie film. Nothing more.We do get some good head explosions, but if you're expecting disembowelment, only one character gets disembowelled and it's not all that gruesome. We only see a wee bit of it. Shaun of the Dead had a way better disembowelling scene.Whereas Shaun of the Dead was both really funny and was a love letter to the zombie genre, Cockneys VS Zombies feels like someone trying to copy it and not have any clever references or foreshadowing like Shaun had. There's nothing screwed up or shocking about it either. Day of the Dead was very gory and Braindead was very screwed up which what made them memorable. Here, we don't get anything. There are some things I do like about this film, the dialogue between the characters, some good gags like the old man trying to walk away from a slow moving zombie and the shootout in the old folks' home. The character of Ray was a real badass and it was cool seeing old people kick ass.Sadly the worst character in the film is Tony Gardener's Clive. Tony was known for Brian Johnson, the best character in My Parents Are Aliens. He was the star of the show. And here, his character is just useless. He does nothing except whine and get kicked about. He doesn't kill any zombies or anything. He probably hates this role as much as I do.Not a terrible film, but just not that spectacular.

A zombie film. Another one. Ever since Resident Evil they've been coming thick and fast - each one trying to add something different into the genre. Some work, most don't. Here we have a low budget British epic which does its best to steer away from comparisons with the classic Shaun of the Dead. However, it will always be doomed to fail on that front. For a start, it's British, it's a comedy, it has gore and is set in London, starring a load of 'average Joes' who just so happen to get caught up in an undead uprising.Although it's not bad. It has a few moments of humour and a decent amount of gore for such a low budget film. However, just as I can't really think of anything bad to say about it, I can't really think of anything good either. If you want zombies, gore and a dose of comedy, you really might as well just stick with Shaun of the Dead.Cockneys vs Zombies doesn't take itself seriously and die hard fans of the genre should find plenty to appreciate about it. It just seems a case of 'been there and done that.' I have to say I was kind of hoping, seeing as the film was set in the East End of London, to watch hordes of rampant flesh-eating ghouls rampaging through Albert Square, ripping apart patrons of the Queen Vic in the process. Now that would be worth the price of any cinema admission!

Old people vs. Zombies, now that's a twist for ya. My favorite part of the movie was the beginning. It reminded me of Return of the living dead, which is one of my favorite movies ever. It's rare to get an origin story of where the Zombies come from.Ray Macguiren was a cool character. An old army vet a bit angry at the world who gets back in the battle by saving his fellow senior citizens from the zombie infestation. One cool concept was Mental Mickey, a deranged war vet who has a metal plate in his head so when he turns into a Zombie you can kill him like the rule book tells you to. Overall the movie was pretty funny and enjoyable. Glad I watched it. It's not Shawn of the Dead, but the Brits made another great Zombie flick.
