It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.

I already know the sequel will suck and the remake is god awful but this film is good. I like this film and I do see problems in the film. I'm not saying the film is the best but it's really bloody for fans that like horror movie that's bloody. Now Bert in this movie is the rebel (he's better than the other Bert in the remake). This film is good not great or perfect.Score: 7.5/10

Seriously? What a load of craptacular awfulness. And what's so sad is that there are people who actually thought this movie was good.I'd like a case of whatever they're drinking.HOW do movies like this, get funded? More importantly...WHY do they get funded? This film got theatrical as in major, world wide screenings and press. There are struggling film makers who will never get the backing, press or prestige this film has had and THAT is what's wrong with Hollywood.I've seen first-time filmmakers, with little to no budget, no fame and no fan base, do better. The only reason it got a 3, from me, is because the geezer in the general store, was hilarious. Is there a rewind button on my life so I can get back the time I wasted on this useless garbage?

This is not about being scary. It is about being gross. I do not like horror movie that having nothing to do with being scary. All are all about being gross. The story line in this film is awful. It got a 5.6 because of people who like horror movies that are bloody and gross. It is not scary at all. It is just hype. Do not wast your money. Do not wast your time. Do not see this movie. It is awful. It is just a big pile of pooh pooh. This is one of the worst horror movies made before 2009. In 2009 they stared making sequels. It is not hard to better then this awful movie. But there could not do it. Stay way from this movie it is a big pile of pooh pooh.

I am a huge horror movie fan. I go to 24-hr film festivals, conventions, you name it. However, I just cannot stand this movie. I first saw it when it was released in theaters and HATED it, avoiding it and its sequels like the plague depicted therein. Tonight, 13 years after its release, I decided to give it another go.And I still just DO NOT get the appeal. Unlikable characters who garner no sympathy from me, intentionally weird supporting characters who seem to serve no real purpose other than to be inexplicably weird, and a plodding pointless story that has no real mystery to be explained or suspense as to what might happen. It reminds me of something a student might put together in an attempt to make a sloppy, unappealing homage to true pioneers of the strange in film like Lynch, Cronenberg, or even Tarantino. The difference is that those three (and others I'm not going to take the time to list) had a POINT to the oddities and strange, obnoxious weirdos they wrote and put out there for consumption. This film, like many of Zombie's films, feels like a cheap ripoff of much greater freak-shows on film.
