So much average
There are moments that feel comical, some horrific, and some downright inspiring but the tonal shifts hardly matter as the end results come to a film that's perfect for this time.
The film may be flawed, but its message is not.
A clunky actioner with a handful of cool moments.
Wow, what to say for another maestral hit by Atom Egoyan. I can definitely declare myself to be his greatest fan. What kind of topic, what kind of processing, what kind of acting, camera, everything is brought to perfection. This is a psychologically-erotic thriller, which really keep our attention from the beggining to the end. Julianna Moore played the great role of a middle -aged woman who is fighting with her thoughts and feelings. Scam, deception, finding of lost sexuality, I think those are very interesting motives which would initiate everyone to watch this movie. Immediately after watching this movie, I watched the original Nathalie (2003). None of one thing what I found in "Chloei" I can't find in original one. I couldn't feel any connection between the characters. I think the film is conceived that it runs in a single rhythm, and resulting of drama should be achieved by some tense atmosphere. They weren't convincing me in their feelings and emotions, nor transfered anything to me . I could only feel a straight and cold atmosphere among the actors. No connection between the parents and their son, the actor who played that role was acting like he fell from Mars, he was completely redundant , his role is much better organised in "Cloei," where the role of a son is very important and becomes a strong link between the other caracters. As I may say generally, it was interesting to look at two completely different approaches in the processing of the same topic. Another important difference that I could point out is, that French version is so raw, not to say vulgar in Nathalie's monologues, while the Atom's version is highly sophisticated with an abundance of high-quality erotic scenes. At the end,I want to say that these two films are completely different to me by it's genre. While "Nathalie" can be placed like drama, "Chloe" has all the features of the erotic thriller.
This movie is more sad than sexy. A woman hires a prostitute to stalk what her husband is doing and reporting back to her after they finish up meeting. You honestly wouldn't expect Amanda Seyfield kissing every cast member on set and act as a prostitute person! You would think she's just too cute for the role but really, she killed it seriously! Her Mamma Mia days are pretty much over so she can do whatever role she has to do! I really wish her character didn't kill herself in the end because she was just awesome throughout this movie! Julianne Moore looked absolutely stunning as Catherine Stewart. In this movie, she actually reminded me of when she was involved in "Far From Heaven" with a similar story to this. Except, Liam Neeson's character wasn't gay and she didn't hire a escort to stalk the husband. Liam Neeson as usual, is always a great actor and seriously, the man never disappoints his acting skills to anyone,he's just brilliant! I have to say, this was a really good movie! I think it definitely deserves a 8/10!
An ageing wife hires a babe to prove her husband is a cheater, but the babe has eyes for her.Simplistic drama that avoids every interesting development, and all the possibilities that kept me guessing evaporated well before the end. It is stylish and well made, with a good cast. The actress playing the babe is outstanding - one look-to-camera with her green eyes filling the screen - but she's not the thing, and the roles for the more experienced actors feel misguided. Not sure where this goes wrong. The director did something similar in Where The Truth Lies - promising lots, but ending up with little. The writer gives some clunky scenes that make the story struggle, and doesn't let the actors tell a satisfying story. The score is excellent, loved every second of it, and the pace is good.Overall, made-for-TV feel after an intriguing build-up.
A married doctor wife suspects that her professor husband is cheating on her, so she hires a young prostitute to lure him and see what will happen. The results are far from what she was expecting.Julianne Moore gives a stellar performance in the character of a troubled wife and Liam Neeson is more hansom than usual. Amanda Seyfried as the titular character seems OK but other actresses could have done better. The film has a sensual feel (and some nudity and sex scenes) and the music works towards that direction. You keep guessing what will happen next, and if the movie take a 180o turn at any point. There are some "surprises" so to speak but overall the ending disappoints. It is good for a nightly viewing before sleep but It could have been so much more....
