Very interesting film. Was caught on the premise when seeing the trailer but unsure as to what the outcome would be for the showing. As it turns out, it was a very good film.
Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.
The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
Another Barbie movie. And guess what? Kelly Sheridan is also in this film. Before I ever ran across the Barbie movies, I would have never heard this name, but that is the miracle for being willing to watch any movie out there.Anyway, its just a Barbie version of the "Prince and the Pauper" that has been done so many times before. Except this is a GGI Barbie version with a twist: somebody is trying to take over the 'Barbie kingdom'. Yes, very exciting.Overall, except for the two couples at the end, the story followed the traditional format. Not much to see here. "D-"
OK, OK, so it's not the most sophisticated film in the world, but it has a surprisingly good plot and great sing-along music. Good for when you're feeling low, this movie will cheer you up. Best bits are definitely the 'out-takes' in the credits. They must be seen to be believed. My one grumble however, is that the Shellys could have put in a bigger appearance; they didn't even have speaking parts - they should talk to their agents! Kelly Sheridan is fabulous as always although the best character must be the super-camp villain! His evil laugh just cracks me up. Then there is the 'doggish-cat' who always barks instead of meowing, which is a little strange, but very cute.I have seen this film far too many times and know practically all the words to the songs (sad but true!), but it never gets dull. All in all, another great movie from Barbie and a worthwhile first musical. I really need to see the other Barbie films though, they are being made too fast for me to catch up. But of the ones I've seen, this is the best. Suitable for all ages!
This is a wonderful film. I bought the video tape for my 3-year-old daughter, but ended up seeing it more than her :) I wonder if someone can help me with the lyrics of all the songs, specially the one that says: and you're always free to begin again, and the one that says: I love you for you, when you love me for me. They are very motivating, and I'd love to learn them and then teach them to my children. My email address is [email protected]. What I also like about it is that it is computer animated cartoon, not like the regular cartoons we usually see. The music is of an excellent standard. Involving both human characters and animals truly enriches our children imagination. my kids loved the characters and the two cats, and of course... the horse. I'd like to add that the scenes looked as if a professional camera-man took all the shoots. the 'camera' was moving from all the corners. The movie is wonderfully great.
However being a bit of a Barbie cynic where companies will pretty much do any promotions to get their dolls sold, even to make a film about it, i must say rite now i found this film was pretty good quality for straight release DVD and intended for a younger female audience. I'm singing praises for the writers and songwriters and voice talents, both singing and speaking as i found this depiction of this story of 'the prince and the pauper' used many times over the years quite an original perspective piece of work and so amusing as well. This was very well done and has seemed to have amused where Disney has failed in recent years. The main characters, princess Anneliese and Erika were well thought out i think and seem to have science interested princess and more adventurous pauper than maybe more humble one. When Erika collapsed i thot shes having a Bridget Jones moment. Predicitable they were going to marry in the end but what wasn't predictable was sum of the twists in this film. my opinion anyway. and the villain and the two Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dummer sidekicks - funny to watch.the songs were well done and sung beautifully , cud easily think maybe its a catchy Disney song.although this film is intended for little girls - and i think this one well worth having a look at - though i wouldn't really brag bout it to ma friends, might one day :P still think is an okay flick, shame that ppl who sell the toys get the credit not ones behind the flick then again without the toy there would be no flick. ah well
