The Barbie Diaries
This movie stars Barbie as a teenage girl, trying to deal with crushes, rivals and friendship as she tries to achieve her dream of working as a news anchor for her school's TV station. She doesn't always make the right decisions, but she's a nice enough character and considerably less "perfect" than she is portrayed in her other films.

Lack of good storyline.
This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.
Great story, amazing characters, superb action, enthralling cinematography. Yes, this is something I am glad I spent money on.
This movie is every plot you've ever seen about a high school. I could not finish this movie it was so awful. If you're just looking for something to show your kids I would still tell you to look elsewhere. The other Barbie movies are more tolerable and better looking than this sad excuse of a film. Please do yourself a favor and watch something that has even a little bit more artistic value than Barbie Diaries.
Okay, so I'm a 16-year-old, and I watched this movie when I was younger, and it was practically my favorite movie, and honestly probably still is.This movie is fantastic for so many reasons, one of them is it's difference from other Barbie movies. This movie is real. Stuff in this movie really happens in high school, and it helps young children realize how cruel the world really can be, but also how you can get over it. People say it "scares" kids, or makes them "deal with something they don't have to deal with as young girls". But, honestly, by watching the movie, the viewer isn't being harassed by the kids in the school, they are just understanding how high school works. Another reason I love this movie is because it is practically a G-rated version of Mean Girls, which is a fantastic movie with a great lesson to be learned, just like this movie. Thirdly, there aren't a lot of super famous people in this movie, making it even better. The movie isn't aimed to show the top celebrities playing Barbie and her friends, making the movie more raw and able to spread it's message better. Additionally, the music isn't by very well known artists, especially at the time it came out (i.e. Ke$ha sings one of the songs, but she wasn't very popular in 2006). However, it's still fantastic. The music is mostly sung by the singing voice of Barbie, Skye Sweetnam, who is now one of my favorite artists because I seeked out her work after falling in love with this film.People say this movie is cliché, and it is, but it's played out so well. It's cliché without being annoying, and any kid who would watch this doesn't know it's cliché, so what does it matter? Simply, this movie is aimed for a young audience, and the producers definitely achieved their goal there. Lastly, the humor in this movie is great. There are jokes I still find funny, and practically anyone will. For anyone who wants to trash this movie, it's really not worth it. It's a Barbie movie. It's not meant for the theaters, it's meant for young kids to watch and learn from.
I'm not an ignorant child, nor am I a parent, so this may vary from other opinions. Children and parents have gotten used to seeing our Little Miss Perfect Barbie as a princess who ends up living 'happily ever after'. This movie, however, strayed away from the usual Barbie magic approach and went into the real world. It was almost refreshing. Many high schools are not how they are portrayed in the movie, but some do match the one as seen in The Barbie Diaries. I think the film isn't one for young children, possibly under seven, but is good to show Barbie fans. We can't have children growing up thinking the world is strictly a wonderful place and that they're going to be turned into a swan or something along those lines they need a small taste of reality. So overall, the movie was okay and a nice way to stray from the usual Barbie expectancies.
Okay Barbie is the typical role model for little girls aged 3-9. She can be a SuperStar, Malibu Girl, Businesswoman, Just about anything! The other movies were cute but they all had the same point. She has a few friends (dragons, nutcrackers, fairies, etc.) and she fights off the "Bad Guys" with a little magic. This movie is different. She is totally a normal girl. She has a crush, she is in a band, she gets dumped, then wins the guy back! Gosh, I did that stuff when I was young! She is normal in this movie and it kinda reminds me of a little kid version of "Mean Girls" so its pretty cool.As for the acting, they did pretty good using "not so famous" people. It did not influence little kids to watch it just because their "idol" was in it.Its a fun movie and is cute for young girls.
