The Worst Film Ever
I'll tell you why so serious
best movie i've ever seen.
This film is nothing special at all. Its very well cast, especially Williams, Dench and Brannagh as well as the great supporting cast. However, there is very little plot and the story is predictable in every way. Its just a very average and forgettable film.
I mostly enjoyed this biopic of the production of The Prince and the Showgirl. Michelle Williams is excellent as Marilyn Monroe, and Eddie Redmayne does a decent job as the 3rd assistant director on the picture. Michelle Williams does an Oscar nominated performance as Marilyn and was wonderful. I enjoyed seeing how Marilyn might of been off camera and it was fun to see her be flirty. I also learned that her marriage to Arthur Miller was on the rocks just shortly after they were married, which makes her interest in Colin Clark more understandable. It shows how she was vulnerable and needed some comfort in a country she was not used to, during a production where she was not being treated as the star she was by Olivier. The movie is fairly slow, as many biopics are, but does well with the material. I enjoyed Michelle Williams performance mostly, and would recommend this movie to fans of Marilyn Monroe, and of bio pics. 7/10
the acting is the best part of this biopic. the science of Kenneth Branagh to give a realistic Laurence Olivier. the beautiful work of Judi Dench. the exploration of his role by Eddie Redmayne. and, sure, the decent job of Michelle Williams who has the art to translate a legendary star states and not become herself. sure, the story has the fate of each testimony from a guy who meet a personality. the details about The Prince and the Showgirl backstage are not real important in the case of My Week with Marilyn. important remains the manner to give realistic sketches of few actors and to define the atmosphere of period. and that does Michelle Williams one of the most remarkable interpreter of Marilyn Monroe. and that give a seed of new perception of a splendid classic film. film of its actors, My Week with Marilyn is one of films who must see.
The story of Marylin Monroe was a big one to live up to, and I just don't feel that this film really matched it.I think the biggest issue for me was the actress. Obviously, it is nigh on impossible to find a person to be exactly like another, but this lady was just so empty I didn't feel anything about Marilyn through her, only through the story and others actors. Perhaps that was the idea, it being Colin's view of her but, still. Bla. The other actors were wonderful though, and made it enjoyable enough to watch, especially with the Eddie eye-candy. All in all I don't think I would recommend it or watch it again sadly.
