I've had a copy of this film since last year but never tried to purposely watch it on our movie time. I thought of it at first to be a mediocre family drama, but it turned out to be an excellently narrated heart-breaking story of a kind-hearted young girl who's tossed around amid the relationship crisis of her unmarried parents. The film was translated into modern time setting from a book written in 1896 by Henry James depicting irresponsible parents. The actors equally delivered great performances, including Joanna Vanderham who I think deserves an applause for her supporting role. What Maisie Knew, gives a fresh reflection about the importance of families, the togetherness and presence of both parents in rearing their child, and the innocent and disturbed thoughts of a girl who is caught up in an unfortunate situation. It can stir up emotion and awaken a person's inner heart of its capability to truly love and care. Several times, there were scenes that can bring the viewer to the edge of his emotion and blame the parents' stupidity and immaturity.Interestingly, the bleak possibility of the young girl's longing for the companionship of her parents seems to have been saved through the care of her parent's new spouses who got mixed up in the situation and were forced to look out for her.

WARNING SPOILER'S ALERT! i have never written a review before, then again I've not seen such a great movie! this touched me to the center of my bone marrow, this is really done. what maisie knew is a rear gem and a wonderful modern story of divorce betrayal and how a child is caught up in the middle of the drama and the parent's aren't thinking about what's best for the child. They only want to hurt each other neither one even bothering to act in maisie's best interest. Classic dad marring the nanny margo then mom married lincoln the bartender who she barely knew. it's horrible the way some ppl are with their children they think of ways to hurt each other and using the child as the weapon and while maisie knew her parents loved her they used her as a pawn so when dad split to London and left his wife without warning and she couldn't even get a change of clothes the step dad helped her what else maisie knew was that her step mom and dad loved her more then anything and didn't hurt her or try to buy her love and she knew she was loved!

The film is not so much about a bitter custody battle, but more about parenting (and step-parenting). Does good parenting mean buying gifts, toys, various gadgets and fighting for custody no matter what? Many people struggle to find a balance between career and family. For some people careers are of utmost importance - that's their #1 passion. For most people their family is what it's all about. And there are also people who are still lost no matter the age- insecure and dysfunctional. The film is about how challenging it is to be around such people, especially if you have to depend on them. THE NEGATIVE of this film is unfortunate use of animal. Animals are not toys. They are living, breathing creatures who feel affection, pain and fear just like we do. It simply does not make any sense to use and promote use of baby animals in a film about responsibility towards kids.

I LOVE IT. at first i thought i was going to hate it, or maybe not really hate but possibly i would rate it like 5 or 6, but it turned out better than i was expecting! I've never seen anything like this. its so beautiful because how true this is sometimes. about what will happen after your parents got divorced when you're at such young age. what i like the most is about Lincoln, and I'm sure you will too. he's that kind of guy you were hoping to meet. he is a living proof that you should never judge a book by its cover. many credits to the actors and actress as well. they were all good. they played their character magnificently. couldn't have done it any better! job well done guys bravo!!
