Very best movie i ever watch
Overrated and overhyped
Bad Acting and worse Bad Screenplay
Pretty good movie overall. First half was nothing special but it got better as it went along.
'True Grit (2010)' is told with the Coens' signature dancing dialogue, realist yet distinctly cinematic style and slightly absurdist slant, all of which culminate in a very unique yet decidedly well-worn spin on an old tale in (what's arguably) an unfortunately dying genre. It's a feature that adheres just as strongly to the tropes of that genre as it does to the tropes of its head filmmakers' now iconic portfolios. While its perhaps more meditative than some and it certainly isn't an action film by any stretch of the imagination (regardless of its body-count), there's often a sense that the story has been imbued with a slower pace than necessary simply to include long sequences of deliberately cumbersome but unintentionally repetitive back-and-forth banter and odd, almost dream-like asides that serve to paint this version of the old-west as one of strange folk struggling to earn their keep anyway they can, an admirable attempt to introduce some extra - and, actually, unneeded - personality that often falls flat thanks to the fact that the rest of the piece isn't anywhere near as weird - or as slow - as these moments. Still, there's a decent sense of a dusty, rustic style and a no-nonsense tone, both of which combine with the scenery (and screenplay) chewing performances to make for an enjoyable experience. 8/10
It' such a great movie. I think that the actress that played Mattie is amazing especially when she was only 14. I should congratulate Hailee Steinfeld of making Mattie such a great and enjoyable character But i know that i'm 12 doen't mean i don't understand what's happening. I also know how to feel for the characters. I think that i like the 2010 version than the 1969, but that's my opinion. I know it's a re-make and people don't normally like re-makes, because they're classics. But i'm born in the 21st century which means i like more newer movies than older. That's all i need said also i know that i have wasted my time typing this BUT WHATEVER!!! IT'S NOT LIKE I CARE. ~kaikaiwolf322
One annoying thing about the contemporary film scene, is that we find ourselves occupying a similar state as cinema goers did in the early 1930's. It's that creative expression in cinema and indeed television is subject to heavy scrutiny, from agencies looking to exploit opportunities to create capital from some controversy. An example of such would be the contrived controversy over the character Simple Jack in Tropic Thunder. The result is a kind of mealy mouthing within scripts to placate numerous sensibilities. This is what I feel must've occurred with the 2010 version of True Grit, all the toothsome material from the book has been omitted, it's in effect, a bowdlerised adaptation. Worse though, is the pointless deviation from the source material which completely guts one scene in particular and seems motiveless. After watching it, my overwhelming feeling was, why bother, why did they actually spend the time an money making this flic? The original version stands up much better as a piece of cinema and interpretation of the novel and has become a something of a classic, albeit a misunderstood one.
Hands down the worst thing I've seen by the C Bros, to the point I wondered if someone else was behind the camera. The story is generic, the characters are painfully annoying and overdone. The dialogue is campy. It's just not very good. Bad film. Bad script. Etc...I disliked the film the whole time I was watching it, especially the young actress playing the "spunky" female protagonist. She was particularly insufferable to listen to and watch. She overacted all her lines. There is some cool action sequences but other than that there is nothing worth viewing here. You can't enjoy a film just because it's a western and just because it's by the Coen Brothers. That won't cut it with me. It has to actually be good, and this isn't.Please avoid.
