One of the worst movies I've ever seen
Go in cold, and you're likely to emerge with your blood boiling. This has to be seen to be believed.
The movie runs out of plot and jokes well before the end of a two-hour running time, long for a light comedy.
A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.
The title pretty much says it all. This is one of the most infuriatingly bad and lazy adaptations I've ever seen. 20 year old actors pretending to be teenagers who are supposed to be kids, plot lines completely missing, new and dumb additions that don't contribute whatsoever to the movie. The spirit or the book series is nowhere to be seen.
Of-course, I didn't read the book. I know nothing about the original story. I only know the Movie version but it was fast paced, a solid, if formulaic story and fun, with a ton of great visuals and a sprinkle of Greek mythology.Daughters of Aphrodite, Centaurs and Satyrs. Vegas, loyal sidekicks, Persephone, and hell-hounds. What's not to like? If you haven't read the books, this is an entertaining, colorful, fast paced romp and worth a watch.
the worst movie I have ever seen. so I had to do assignment comparing a book to the movie, so I chose this particular titles since I've read all pf the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series and adored them all. but no! this was nothing like the book! HERE IS WHATS Different. ANNABETH HAS BLOND HAIR AND GREY EYES, NOT BLUE EYES AND BROWN HAIR! MRS. DODDS IS A MATH TEACHER, NOT AN English TEACHER! ALSO THEY CHANGED THE QUESTION CHION AKED PERCY, AND PERCY WAS SUPPOSED TO GET THE QUESTIO HALF RIGHT! CHIRON NEVER Threatened MRS. DODDS WITH THE SWORD, HE ACTUALLY THREW THE PEN CASUALLY TO PERCY SAYING"TALLY HO!" there is way more differences(this is only 1% of the differences), but I don't feel like writing anymore. my suggestion? Read the book, don't watch the movie and you'll be happier.
I am a little at a loss as to the IMDb review and ratings on this movie. I found it engrossing, fast moving and a ton of fun. Percy is the son of Olympian god Poseidon, along with his satyr protector he meets up and teams with Athena's daughter Annabeth to try to stop Olympus from tearing itself apart in civil war. Lerman as Percy and Daddario as Annabeth are attractive and very able stars, they are placed in a number of precarious situations along with satyr Grover, also well-played by Jackson. Although the gods have now been ordered to not have contact with their kids I don't think it's a spoiler to say some sort of contact occurs during the movie. I thought the idea of modern American kids being demigods was different and exciting, also seeing the machinations of the gods that affect them. The story made sense and ran well, this was followed by a sequel that looked as good but didn't play nearly as well, not that unusual for sequels. But sit back and enjoy this one.
