An comprehensive look at the life and music of Mark Linkous, a influential figure in the alternative music scene. Critically-acclaimed Linkous had a dramatic life that saw him battle with drug and alcohol addiction, paralysis, and debilitating depression that resulted in his eventual suicide. Mark's music was heralded by his peers and critics; a mix of delicate pop, discordant punk and melodic odyssey; it has been described as defiantly surrealist with all manner of references to smiling babies, organ music, birds, and celestial bodies. The film mines Marks life and music and navigates the sacrifices and highs and lows of his art.

Out of Sight: Stop the Stigma, Start a Conversation sheds a much needed light on the issues of teen mental illness and suicide. The film features powerful interviews with struggling teens, teachers, and the parents of struggling children. Focusing on the lack of mental health options available for effectively treating mental illness in the US health care system, the film works to remove the stigma surrounding the treatment of mental health issues. The documentary is a touching reminder to treat all people with kindness because you never know what issues they might be facing.

Out of Sight is a true eye opener to the realities of mental illnesses in teens and young adults. It features many touching first hand accounts of mental illness and seeks to inform the population of whats going on behind the scenes. The documentary is short but does hit home with the points it makes. The crew behind the movie did a good job of taking the stories from a dozen plus people and driving the point of how shunned and hidden away mental illness is in our society. The crew did an amazing job of editing the film and its easy to follow throughout the entirety of the movie. This would be a great film to play in the classroom as well. A true must watch that will change your life.

If there was ever a fun to summarize the struggle these teens and young adults go through, this is it.
