Asteroid Hunters
Venture into deep space for a fascinating look at asteroids, their cosmic origins and the potential threat they pose to our world. Written and produced by Phil Groves, produced by Jini Durr and directed by W.D. Hogan, Asteroid Hunters introduces asteroid scientists – the best line of defense between Earth and an asteroid’s destructive path – and reveals the cutting-edge tools and techniques they use to detect and track asteroids, and the technology that may one day protect our planet. The effects of an asteroid impact could be catastrophic and while the current probability of an event in our lifetime is low, the potential consequences make the study of asteroids an incredibly important area of scientific research. Witness the latest in planetary defense and how science, ingenuity and determination combine to explore the world’s most preventable natural disaster.

Black Holes: The Edge of All We Know
Black Holes: The Edge of All We Know
Black holes stand at the limit of what we can know. To explore that edge of knowledge, the Event Horizon Telescope links observatories across the world to simulate an earth-sized instrument. With this tool the team pursues the first-ever picture of a black hole, resulting in an image seen by billions of people in April 2019. Meanwhile, Hawking and his team attack the black hole paradox at the heart of theoretical physics—Do predictive laws still function, even in these massive distortions of space and time? Weaving them together is a third strand, philosophical and exploratory using expressive animation. “Edge” is about practicing science at the highest level, a film where observation, theory, and philosophy combine to grasp these most mysterious objects.

In 1977, NASA launched Voyager1 and Voyager2. They traveled to the lesser-known outer planets and some of the moons orbiting them. The planets' rare alignment made it an opportune time. Carl Sagan is the driving force behind the golden record of earthly sounds which became the media focus. This is slightly better than most PBS hour long specials. It's actually 96 minutes and packs an emotional punch. The wide-eyed poetry of exploration is well presented. This is a lot things. It's an underdog story. It's a scientific documentary. It's an exploration thriller. It brings back all the great discoveries. This could be great for inspiring a high school science class.

Every year there's a new space documentary, I watch them cause I find the universe to be a damn scary place. All these documentaries are always full of joys and wonders and gazing upon the stars.. for me its just utter uncontrollable terror when thinking about the big picture. massive silent rotating planets 1000 times the sizes of earth spinning around in the cold space. And if there are life theres 99% likely they are like something really menacing like alien movies. cause IF there are other lifeforms they would have learn to adapt to even harsher enviroments and must be things that make lovecraft imagination nothing in comparison! Alien microbs may have the reverse effect and speed up growth in just a few seconds in contact with oxygen! ok enough bulls*** What makes me angry watching these docs are the human naive exploring part, instead of saving our own planet and give balance to everything that is destroyed, they waste billion of dollars on space travels for really no good reasons at all really. ok they find a planet that spews some kind of liquid. with that money they could have saved the rainforest, cleaned oup some oceans perhaps etc, nasa could have spent their time coming up with better inventions for energy etc. If we loose earth and make it unlivable it is really over. thats the simple fact. not the other way around, exploring mars and to believe that we could live there? Its just not in our bio structure to withstand that climate for long periods and depression and weakness in our bones would hit like a truck. how nice would that be? clean up earth instead. stop building cityscrapes over every surface available. and how amazing all these documentaries are, it really doesnt surve any purpose in the end knowing how beatiful saturn looks up close. Its just rich mega industries that persuing their own curiousness and the curiosity killed the cat.

Mankind left its fingerprint in the outer space wit Voyager 1 & 2. This is, by far, the most remarkable thing human beings ever accomplished. And I could never be more proud and honored. Thinking that a man-made object will last billions of years, longer than we'll ever be able to exist, probably, it just blows my mind. At least this would be a signal for aliens to know that, far away, on a pale blue dot, a species of creatures called humans reached their goal of sending the message that we were here and we would never be forgotten. Documentaries like these prove that the sky is not the limit and that men are capable of doing things that are far beyond their potential. What we have done is more than history, it is a story worth sharing with... aliens.

This is a fascinating look at the incredible Voyager 1 and 2 journeys, and who would have have thought that 40 years on (it was launched 4 days after the death of Elvis), the two would be powering away, all lonely in outer space and beyond. All credit to the dedicated scientists who worked around the clock to get this thing working. We also learned much about the golden record on both Voyagers. We learn that the publicity about the golden record received, much to the consternation of the scientists, more attention than the tech aspects!! It was lovely seeing interviews with the people who provided the oral greetings, although funnily enough they sounded like Linus. We learned that Voyager 2 launched first, but Voyager 1 was faster and overtook Voyager 2. Also the press conference for the launch was held at Frank Wolfe's Beachside Motel, in a hotel room separated from a Polish wedding reception LOL!!But Voyager is in need for an update. So for Voyager 3 they should consider a new golden record. For instance they need a LGBTI next to the naked man and woman drawing. This will enthrall the aliens.Talking about aliens, the Voyager 3 golden record should include a speech from President Trump, who has a lot of thoughts about aliens. The golden record should also include every episode of the Kardashians, a complete video of the OJ Simpson murder trial, MTV's the Real World and Road Rules, climate change reports, health reports about the rate of obesity, the Alien DVD collection with a special message from Ridley Scott), the Predator DVD collection, an E.T. plush doll, the complete ALF DVD collection, the Space Invaders video game, 2001: A Space Odyssey, the Criterion Collection DVD of Santa Claus Conquers the Martians, and The Martian DVD.Also the Voyager 3 golden record must include the Death Wish DVD collection (including the Bruce Willis reboot), and the complete series of Third Rock from the Sun.Also don't forget David Bowie's movie The Man Who Fell to Earth and his classic Space Oddity, and The Carpenter's Calling occupants of interplanetary craft.
